Abc To Remake "you Who Came From The Stars," Cbs To Remake "good Doctor," And More
According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC has put out a script commitment with a penalty to remaking this drama, which has received global attention and love. The format will be similar with a supernatural love story following a pop star named Lark and her neighbor, James, who is the alien in this case. Just like Kim Soo Hyun, James tries to distance himself from humans despite the world-saving capability of his superpowers--that is, until he gets a vision that Lark will be put in a perilous and life-threatening position! Following the drama"s storyline, the two fall in love as he is given the chance to return to his planet.
The ABC story will be written and produced by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain of hit series such as "The Vampire Diaries" while the original writer, Park Ji Eun, and HB Entertainment"s Moon Bo Mi will likewise be executive producers.
In addition, this will not be the only Korean drama expecting an American remake! CBS will be creating a medical drama based on "Good Doctor" while NBC is preparing a program based on "Grandpas Over Flowers." It looks like the Hallyu wave is extending vastly and influencing the American TV market.
Good Doctor To Win At 2014 Seoul Drama Awards
The 9th Seoul International Drama Awards was held on September 4th at the Haeoreum Theater of the National Theater of Korea. "Trot Lovers" actor Shin SungRok and "Inspiring Generation" actress Jin SeYeon led the event as MCs. Among 209 works from 50 countries including South Korea, France, Japan, China and more were nominated for this year"s award ceremony.
The best television drama award was presented to KBS 2TV “Good Doctor” presented by producer Ki MinSu.
"Other nominated works are all what I enjoyed watching. I"m so proud that "Good Doctor" is also on the list with those amazing drama series," Producer Ki said in his acceptance speech."Some other countries are interested in releasing the remake versions of this drama. I think this drama is quite unique, but there must be something that the world can understand. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to make this drama and the viewers who loved it," he added.
"good Doctor" To Be Adapted
American network CBS is slated to produce an adaptation of the Korean drama "Good Doctor", according to KBS, which aired the series in 2013. This is the first time a domestic program will be remade by a major U.S. broadcaster, local media reported. It is likely that CBS will air the American version of "Good Doctor" either next year or in 2016, KBS announced, though CBS TV Studios is reportedly aiming to debut the show in August 2015. The remake will be set in a Boston hospital. Korean-born actor Daniel Dae Kim, best known as the star of "Hawaii Five-0" and his role as Jin-soo Kwon on "Lost", has partnered with CBS and its studios for the project, a deal finalized with his company 3AD. 'good Doctor' Remake To Be Shown On Cbs
"It"s all about the timing and confluence of different events," Kim told The Hollywood Reporter. "K-pop is bigger than ever, there is awareness in the U.S. of an international market, there is interest in intellectual property such as basing TV and film on books and foreign content. There is also this emergence of Korean directors breaking into the U.S., and there"s people like me with an interest in both Korean and American TV."
Malaysian born Adele Kim will serve as the writer on this project. She previously worked on the TV shows "Star Crossed," "Private Practice," "One Tree Hill" and Reign." She and Kim are the executive producers on this project and they will work together with CBS Studios and Entermedia, a U.S.-based company founded by Sebastian Lee and David Kim.
The original drama starred Joo Won as Park Shi On, a brilliant doctor whose ability to heal was hampered by his Asperger"s syndrome. Although he was a genius diagnostician and often had a remarkable bedside manner, his inability to understand social norms, made hospital life difficult for him.

KBS drama “Good Doctor” had the honor of winning the Best Serial Drama Award at the Rockie Awards for the 35th Banff World Media Festival. The event took place in Canada on June 8
“Good Doctor”, starring Joo Won and Moon Chae Won, is a medical human drama about a genius pediatric surgeon who is also autistic. The drama received critical acclaim in its home country, sweeping the awards at the 2013 KBS Drama Awards, and winning the Best Drama Award at the 2014 Baeksang Arts Awards.
