Shinhwa The Return
Title track, Sniper may throw you for a loop, initially. Its a bit weird, though you may not notice while fawning over the MV. Shinhwa teamed up with composer Andrew Jackson for the third album in a row (he helped with the This Love and Venus title tracks). Like in those previous releases, electronic sounds take the forefront. You are initially drawn in with the whistling, and stay for the pop. The best thing about Sniper is that the group effectively rotates the rappers and vocals without having huge chunks of either one. It may sound odd, but it still flows well. Also, pay attention to the rap lyrics, as MFBTYs Bizzy joined in penning them (along with Eric and David Kim).
The last song is lustful, as is obvious from the title Give it 2 Me. There are no metaphors or similes; Shinhwa is straightforward in their desire for a woman. They have been captivated by the seductive game the woman is playing, patiently waiting for her to come to them. Meanwhile, they are hungry for her to give it to them.
Give it 2 Me is a funky song with muted instrumentation. It features a simple rhythmic guitar and bass, with a few electronic sounds and drums. The song is rather rap-line heavy, which fits well with the overall aesthetic.
The group’s appearance on the show is especially meaningful, as they debuted in 1998, which was the same year that “Inkigayo” was first established. It is also the first time in about 8 years that Shinhwa will be performing on “Inkigayo,” since their promotions in 2006 with the title track of their eighth full-length album, “Once in a Lifetime.”
Shinhwa, the first-generation K-pop boy band, will resume its career early next year with Andy, who has kept a low profile since he was found to be spending money last year on illegal gambling. The singer was sentenced to pay 5 million won ($4,629) in fines for his misconduct and banned from appearing on MBC programming. Still, the seven-member ensemble has decided to promote its new album with him. Shinhwa first debuted in 1998, when first-generation boy and girl groups like H.O.T. and S.E.S. started to emerge. The boy band is one of the longest-running groups and its members, who were teenagers when they first burst onto the scene, are now approaching their mid-30s. Shinhwa"s members have each sought out their own careers in singing and acting. They pursue individual projects when they are not performing together.
Shinhwa fans, rejoice! Shinhwa will be making a comeback in the beginning of next year as an all-member group. Maknae Andy faced charges of illegal gambling at the end of last year, and later didn’t participate in the group’s 15th anniversary concert.
A media outlet reported that a representative of Shinhwa stated, “Shinhwa decided to make a comeback the first week of next year. They’re also thinking of a world tour after the release of the studio album.”
The representative continued, “The world tour, in celebration of the group’s 17th anniversary, is an opportunity for the members to be able to meet with fans abroad.”
In the course of two years, Shinhwa Broadcast tried out several different formats, from channel surfing to cooking, and finally ending with spotlighting little legends in Korea by season two. The last little legends were about two young brothers who dream of becoming pro boxers even under dire circumstances.
However, with Kim Dong Wan leaving the show after season one to focus on acting and Andy taking off to self-reflect after gambling issues, the rest of the Shinhwa members decided it wasn’t right to continue the show with only four members.
The singer’s agency, Live Works Company, commented, “To celebrate the 10 years anniversary of his solo debut, Lee Min Woo has gone through many music pieces and selected the tracks while producing his new album. He has put a lot of affection towards this special album, and is doing his best to prepare. The singer has transferred many episodes that have happened inside a taxi to create his addicting new song, “Taxi.” You can expect a special performance as well as many other things that we have planned.”

Shinhwa Broadcast aired its first episode on the cable channel JTBC in March of las year. The variety program featured legendary idol group Shinhwa as fixed cast members and received great popularity from all age groups. However in May of 2013, the show went on hiatus with the group focusing on their eleventh album comeback, their Asia tour, and member Kim Dong Wans drama. The show was supposed to resume its broadcast in September.
Yoon Hyun Joon also explained that the concept for the returning season of Shinhwa Broadcast has not been finalized. Although we cant have many meetings with the Shinhwa members, we are communicating with them. We had one meeting where everyone met together.
