On Wednesday, April 19, GOT7’s Youngjae was hurried to the hospital due to an injury. Youngjae is to cease all activities until he recovers.
According to Koreaboo, Youngjae’s injury was to his back. As a result, the GOT7 member will unfortunately not be able to attend the group’s “GOT7 GLOBAL FANMEETING IN AUSTRALIA 2017“. JYP Entertainment then released a statement the same day.
“Due to health concerns, Youngjae will not participate in GOT7 GLOBAL FANMEETING IN AUSTRALIA 2017 on April 20, 21, 23, and 42,” said JYP Entertainment. The agency added that Youngjae is currently being treated.
“Considering Yooungjae’s health status, it is difficult for him to participate in the Australia fan meetings, and therefore he decided not to attend,” added the agency. JYP Entertainment also added how important Youngjae’s health is and that it is their top most priority at the moment.
JYP Entertainment wrapped up their statement by apologizing to the fans who has been anticipating to see Youngjae in personal. Youngjae has also cancelled all his other personal activities as well.
This is actually the third time Youngjae has missed out on the group’s promotions and activities. According to What The K-pop, Youngjae initially missed GOT7’s summer 2016 activities.
Youngjae has also missed out on GOT7’s “Hard Carry” promotions in the later months of the same year. It is unclear though whether this absence was also due to his back. Health experts often talk about back injuries K-pop idols sustain.
According to the health experts, K-pop idols like Youngjae usually sustain back injuries because of their relentless dancing practice and hectic schedules. Health experts also added how dangerous it is to have injuries to the back as it needs continuous rehabilitation and comprehensive rest.
After the announcement, fans of Youngjae immediately took to Twitter to express concern to their idol. The fans used the hashtag “#GetWellSoonYoungjae” and wished the idol to have a speedy recovery.
