YG Entertainment Creates Subsidiary 'YG Studio Plex' To Work Solely On K-Dramas & Signs Park Hong Gyun PD!

YG Entertainment just created a subsidiary whose sole job is to work inside the Korean drama industry. “YG Studio Plex” will be helmed by Park Hong Gyun PD.

An insider once reported that YG Entertainment is planning to get into the drama industry. Now, Koreaboo reports that the company will, in fact, be entering the drama industry by creating a subsidiary, YG Studio Plex. This was confirmed on Thursday, April 27.

In addition, YG Entertainment signed Park Hong Gyun PD who just recently resigned from MBC Entertainment. Park Hong Gyun’s most notable works include “Queen Seon Deok” (2009), “The Greatest Love” (2011), and “Warm and Cozy” (2015).

Through YG Studio Plex and Park Hong Gyun PD, YG Entertainment will be sure to bring top quality K-dramas. Park Hong Gyun is set to join the company this May.

Also, YG Entertainment has partnered with “The Wind Blows LTD”. The company worked the 2013 drama “That Winter, the Wind Blows” which was a huge hit among K-drama viewers.

This will be the first time YG Entertainment ventured into the Korean drama industry. The company mostly houses recording artists such as BIGBANG, WINNER, iKON, and BLACKPINK.

YG Entertainment also houses solo artists such as Taeyang, BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, T.O.P, and Seungri. YG Entertainment now also houses former 2NE1 members Dara, and CL.

According to Wikipedia, YG Entertainment currently has 3 partners: United Asia Management, Live Nation, and an airline company Asiana Airlines.

United Asia Management was formed in 2011 as a combined talent management with YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment. The company is also joined with AMENT, KeyEast, and Star J Entertainment.

Live Nation is a concert promotion company based in California, US. YG Entertainment collaborated with the company for BIGBANG’s “Alive Galaxy Tour” in 2012.

Asiana Airlines became YG Entertainment’s partner in 2013. The airlines currently provide transportation for YGE’s artists and personnel. In turn, YG Entertainment advertises the airline.
