Victim in Iron’s assault case to appeal his sentence

Iron’s ex-girlfriend will be appealing the sentence given to the rapper.

According to the Seoul Central Police, Iron beat his girlfriend because she wasn’t listening to him, causing fractures. Prosecutors said last September, while Iron and girlfriend ‘A’ were having sex, ‘A’ refused Iron’s demands. He beat her face with his fists in anger. About fifteen days afterward, ‘A’ decided to break up with Iron. He then choked and beat her, causing injuries and fracturing her left pinky. He then threatened her by stabbing himself with a kitchen tool and then telling her that if she called the police, he would tell them she stabbed him.

The court had found him guilty of all charges and had sentenced him 2 years of probation and 80 hours of community service, with 8 months of prison time if probation is broken. Originally, prosecutors had sought 1 year in prison for him.

The victim ‘A’s lawyers emphasized that the sentence was too light and said, “We will be submitting our appeal to the prosecutors soon. We are currently preparing an additional lawsuit. This case seriously damaged ‘A’s character. After the case was reported to the media, she was constantly called a masochist and looked at negatively. This is silent murder of her character.”

They added, “‘A’ suffered serious assault from Iron. When she tried to report it in October 2016, he threatened her with a knife. Later when she did report the case, he strongly pushed his innocence to take psychological revenge against her. The core of this case is that Iron threatened ‘A’ with a weapon. That makes it not regular threatening, but a special type of threatening. This knife was even submitted as evidence in the investigations, and Iron must pay the price for his crimes.”
