All Of The Music Industry Is At A Halt – What Are They Up To Right Now?

While broadcasting companies are airing dramas normally as planned and movies are being released according to schedule, the entire music industry has seemingly come to a halt. It"s expected that at least for the next 2 weeks all activities will not be resumed. Singers are spending their days doing different things.

Usually April and May are chock full of events, but the music world has stopped releasing new songs, and all concerts, events, and even fan signing events have completely come to a halt. The music industry is sharing in the sad sentiment caused by the disaster of the Sewol ferry accident.

Since comeback periods have a very big impact on a singer"s activities, adjusting schedules that have already been delayed is the biggest problem right now. That"s why during this "break," music industry officials will have to think hard about their next steps

Why Musicians Can’t Escape May Comeback

As the first period of the 2014 K-Pop scene has passed, the second lineup was ready to comeback in April and May prior to the Brazil World Cup. However, the Sewol ferry sunk, and all plans were thrown up in the air.

April comebacks were planned for many artists starting off with EXO; INFINITE, BEAST, 2PM, G.NA, T-ARA, Fly to the Sky, Wheesung, Park Hyo Shin, Secret, and VIXX started off their promotions one by one.

EXO held their comeback showcase. INFINITE signaled their comeback through a reality program, while Park Hyo Shin revealed a track from his soon-to-be-released album. BEAST and Block B got ready for their comeback through their own reality show. G.NA and T-ARA"s Jiyeon released teaser images, while Fly to the Sky and Secret"s Jun Hyo Sung took their album cover pictures

Ever since shocking the nation with her lies on a news report pretending to be a volunteer diver at the scene of the ferry sinking, Hong Ga Hye has become the subject of severe backlash, especially as her past lies have also been coming to light.

As mentioned before, Hong Ga Hye had pretended to be Hwayoung"s cousin to spread lies about T-ara and also created false rumors about herself and athletes being in relationships or her becoming impregnated by them.

Since then it has also been revealed that she had also been on TV before, giving an interview as being a resident of Japan during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. In addition, photos of her posing alongside B1A4 have started to circulate through a post online with the description, "Hong Ga Hye pretended to be a reporter and took photos with B1A4 at their third solo concert "THE CLASS" held at SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium in Bangidong, Seoul last February

A woman who once claimed to be former T-ARA"s singer Hwayoung"s cousin during a bullying scandal that coincided with her leaving the group, was reportedly taken into police custody in South Korea on Sunday, for impersonating a rescue scuba diver at the site of last week"s Sewol ferry disaster.

Hong Ga Hye reportedly turned herself to police in South Korea"s South Jeolla Province, after a warrant had been issued for her impersonating a volunteer diver at the scene of the ferry accident in an interview on Friday with the Korean business channel Maeil Broadcasting Network (MBN), according to the website allkpop.

According to CNN, 87 people have been confirmed dead in the tragic shipwreck, which occurred when a ferry to Jeju Island in the Yellow Sea, off of South Korea"s southwestern coast, capsized

May’s Comeback Artists May Push Back Comeback Date to July

Musicians that had previously scheduled their comeback for May are rescheduling their comeback dates to July.

Due to the halt in the K-pop scene resulting from the Sewol ferry sinking, artists that were projected to come back in May have been pushed back. However, since the Brazil World Cup starts in June, another pause in the K-pop scene is projected; artists are scurrying to reschedule for July to avoid the music industry"s latent period.

Although popular idol groups can afford to make a comeback in May, it is not the case for others; if musicians flock around in May for a comeback, competition will surge, and some groups may not even get a chance to perform on a music program. The earliest optimal comeback date, in this case, would be late June at the earliest.

Increased competition had already been projected for April to May; with the sinking of the Sewol, May will be the busiest

Pause in The K-Pop Scene Continues This Week

On April 16, the Sewol ferry sunk into the ocean. As fear and hopelessness struck the nation, paralyzing all activities, the K-pop scene followed suit, bringing all to a halt; after all, it is inappropriate and superficial for a cheery song to be broadcasted when the nation lies in devastation.

April 21, six days after the incident, is a Monday -- another start to a brand new week. But the K-pop scene remains silent, as if on hold. Scheduled promotions and album releases have all been canceled or delayed indefinitely.

Music programs of all major TV stations have been canceled. There is no "new comeback song" to broadcast and no performance to stage; it"s socially inappropriate for a musician to release and promote a new song in this national catastrophe.

Considering the music programs" month-long pause during the 2010 Cheonan sinking, it is estimated that the Sewol sinking will bring on a similar halt in the K-pop scene

Hong Ga Hye, who has been revealed to be a serial imposter, has been issued an arrest warrant following her false news interview regarding the Sewol ferry tragedy.

Hong Ga Hye previously pretended to be former T-ara member Hwayoung‘s cousin, and she also pretended to be a Tokyo resident for a MBC news interview during the 2011 earthquake disaster in Japan.

Most recently on April 18, Hong Ga Hye appeared in MBN news at 6:20 AM KST for a live interview, pretending to be a civilian diver.
