-- Song Jae Lim shared a bit about the image he′s been carrying as an actor.
Following the conclusion of the popular KBS drama, Unkind Women, Song Jae Lim sat down with Newsen for an interview, where he answered why he always plays strong male characters.
Song Jae Lim recently played Lee Ru Oh, a kendo instructor who falls in love with Jung Mari (Lee Hana). In MBC′s The Moon that Embraces the Sun and KBS′ Inspiring Generation, Song Jae Lim also acted as masculine characters.
"I think the power of the first step is big," said Song Jae Lim. "I gained a bit of weight on my face so the sharpness in my face from before is a bit gone. Before, I was 180 cm tall at 59 kg. Now, I′ve gained 15 kg. I purposely gained weight in my late 20s, but after I hit my 30s, I gain weight even after eating three meals a day."
"I tried exercising, but I couldn′t really lose weight. Even before I started filming Unkind Women, I did kendo and weightlifting, but after weightlifting, I couldn′t find the hunger and after kendo, I had such huge food cravings. When I started Unkind Women, I was at 68 kilograms. I′m at 74 now."
Song Jae Lim shared that he′s planning on dieting.
"I′m going to be going on a hot springs tour in Japan in mid-June, so I′m wondering how I′ll lose these five kg. As I was watching MBC′s We Got Married, I realized that I gained a lot of weight. I can see just how much my face has changed since The Moon that Embraces the Sun.
Song Jae Lim then began talking about rumors of plastic surgery.
"People look at me and say that I had plastic surgery, but the reason why I have never gotten surgery is because I′ve never rested more than two months," explained Song Jae Lim. "I went into a community site before and it said I got double jaw surgery. In the beginning, I lost weight to weigh 59 kg and had long hair."
"I posted about five photos on Instagram and there′s a photo of me at 62 kg with long hair. In that picture, I didn′t look like a skeleton like I did during The Moon that Embraces the Sun," said Song Jae Lim. I think my face is very different depending on the angle. I have pretty high cheek bones and I have the habit of smiling a lot, so I think I got muscles from smiling too."
Song Jae Lim later said that he′s planning on sharing news of his next project soon.
"I′m currently looking over my schedule and condition. It′s not that I want to do something specific, but I′m looking at both dramas and movies. I′m addicted to work. My motto is to not rest for more than two months. I want to be an actor that can continuously work."
"I′ve been sightseeing different Buddhist temples lately, and just like how rocks are piled on top of each other, I want to stack up projects, one on top of another."
