In 1988, Zou Hongyan was advised to terminate her pregnancy due to a birth complication would cause the baby to suffer from a crippling disability.

Her husband did not want to raise the child, so Zou divorced him and spent her whole life dedicating her love and attention to her child.

Due to Dings cerebral palsy, he didnt learn to walk until he was 2 years old. At the age of 3, he learned how to walk and then at age 6, he learned how to jump.

As a current student at Harvard, he credits his mothers strong willpower that got him where he is today.

I would have never dared to apply to Harvard, but my mom encouraged me to give it a shot. Whenever Im hesitant, she is always there guiding me.
