On September 12, Mnet’s ‘Show Me the Money 6’ PD Go Ik Jo shared his thoughts on wrapping up season 6 of the popular hip-hop competition series.
“Of course, Hangzoo, Nucksal, and Woo Won Jae all had reasons to win,” Go PD stated. He added, “I was shocked when I first heard Woo Won Jae rap during the 1st preliminary round.” Lee Ji Hye PD also commented, “I had a feeling Woo Won Jae was going to advance to the finals and believed he had a high chance of winning after listening to his track.”

This year, the producers wrapped up the 6th season of ‘Show Me the Money’. It was another successful season, however, now many are wondering if ‘Show Me the Money’ will also be able to withstand the 7-year curse. In addition, there’s a limited number of rappers in the hip-hop industry, and with more seasons result in an increase of ‘repeaters’ which means a lack of freshness in the format as a whole.
Go PD added, “It is likely a second season of ‘School Rapper’ will pop up early next year. ‘Show Me the Money’ is still pending. We are thinking whether to go for a seventh season or just start a new program.”
As for the likelihood of ‘Unpretty Rapstar’ season 4, the producer/director responded, “Since there are more male rappers than female out there, there are some difficult factors to consider when settling on a broadcast.”
He continued, “To be honest, it seems we’re always working on a new program every season. We create a program depending on the new atmosphere. Though there are many concerns, we look forward to enjoying the moment while trying our best to bring satisfying content.”
