Rock climber Kim Ja-in will attempt to scale Korea’s tallest building, the Lotte World Tower in Seoul, on Saturday. She is looking to become the first woman to climb a skyscraper taller than 500 m.
Announcing the event on Monday, Lotte said Kim will climb the 123-story, 555-m-tall tower wearing safety gear but without footholds.
In 2013, she scaled the 128-m-tall KNN building in Busan.
French climber Alain Robert holds the world record for the fastest climb of the world’s tallest building, the 828-m Burj Khalifa in Dubai, completed in 2011.
Kim expects the climb will take her about two hours. The event will be broadcast live on Lotte World Tower’s Facebook page and on YouTube.
