MBC: “Dae Jang Geum 2” Producer Has Not Been Confirmed


MBC denied the rumors on appointing the producer to film "Dae Jang Geum 2."

An official spokesperson from MBC said on April 18, 2014, "The news articles that the producer of Dae Jang Geum 2 has been selected have been reported, but that is not true. Currently the producer of Dae Jang Geum 2 has not been selected." Previously, a news was reported that the producer Kim Geun Hong has been selected to film Dae Jang Geum 2. MBC is currently preparing to produce Dae Jang Geum 2 with the proposed air date of the second half of this year. MBC has currently offered up the role to actress Lee Young Ae, who starred in the original Dae Jang Geum drama.

"Dae Jang Geum" has been aired in 91 different countries, and MBC raised over 12 million dollars for the copyrights of the drama

Thursday Night Dramas Were Scheduled Then Cancelled

Although two of the major broadcasters in Korea scheduled dramas for Thursday night, hoping to catch up on Wednesday night"s missed programming, they ultimately decided against it. The networks cancelled the night"s dramas and instead expanded news coverage of the Jindo ferry disaster.

Shows that focused on singing and comedy seemed especially inappropriate given that the terrible events have plunged the nation into mourning.

The disaster took place when a ferry capsized on its way to Jeju Island. Most of the passengers were students on a field trip.

According to the South Korean Coast Guard, so far 179 of the ferry"s passengers have been rescued and 25 bodies have been recovered. Another 271 passengers are still missing and, despite ongoing rescue efforts, time may be running out for them

Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye and Jun Ji Hyun Seek To Postpone Events

The Jindo ferry disaster, which so far has resulted in at least 28 deaths, has prompted four top Hallyu stars to request a postponement in promotional activities schedules for this weekend.

Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye were set to attend a three-day Hallyu Star Family Concert in Seoul this weekend but considering the tragedy, the stars asked to postpone the event. Lotte cancelled events for this weekend but insisted that today"s event, which was arranged for international fans must proceed as planned.

The stars" representatives officially requested a postponement, saying that the entire nation was in a state of grief and that to hold a concert in these circumstances would be inappropriate. The celebrities are following their conscience but Lotte remained firm in their stance. They said that many fans had flown into Korea for the event and would find it difficult to attend the event if it was postponed

Kim Soo Hyun-Jun Ji Hyun To Attend China Samsung Galaxy S5 Promotion Event

Actors Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun along with singers Sung Si Kyung and Lyn, will be attending the China Samsung Galaxy S5 promotion event.

Although they wanted to cancel the event due to the tragedy happening in Korea, they found that it was hard to cancel this particular event.

Samsung stated on April 18, "We wanted to delay the event due to the tragedy in Korea, but because this was an event in China, we found that it was hard to cancel it."

The event will take place as announced and they revealed that there were no specific changes made to the event.

This Chinese promotion focuses on the popular drama, "My Love From The Stars" due to its huge popularity in China.

Although the actors and singers requested to cancel the event, the Chinese officials stated that it was hard for them to do so

Boy group Block B has delayed the release of their new album because of the unfortunate sunken ferry tragedy.

Block B"s agency Seven Seasons announced through their official Twitter and SNS on the 16th that they would be delaying the release of Block B"s new single "Jackpot".

Block B stated, "This comeback title song is called "Jackpot", and we were determined to show you an exciting performance. Because of the current situation, the members" state of mind doesn"t match with this title song, so we won"t be able to show you our best. That"s why we adjusted the album release date."

They continued, "We offer a heartfelt apology to our fans that have shown much interest and anticipation. The first batch of the "Jackpot" album will go on offline sales at music stores

EXO ‘Overdose’ Album Release Postponed To Undetermined Date Due To Ferry Tragedy

EXO"s "Overdose" release date has been delayed.

Through a statement on the official EXO website, SM Entertainment has made the decision to postpone the release of Overdose until a yet to be determined date. This comes in light of the April 16 ferry accident which has halted all music chart programs and major entertainment activities.Fans of EXO had the opportunity to watch the April 15 live stream broadcast through Samsung Music which included the music video for Overdose, however, the video has yet to be released.

In the statement, SM Entertainment provides their primary reasons for postponing the album, “The decision has been made to offer our condolences to the victims and our hopes and wishes that the missing persons will return back safely. We ask the fans who have been waiting for the release of the album for their understanding and patience

‘K-Pop Star’ Contestants Wage War On Music Charts

Park Ji Min"s group 15& revealed their new song "Can"t Hide It," which then took the number 1 spot on various real time charts.

15&"s previous songs didn"t do as well as expected, but this digital single showcases Park Ji Min and Kim Ye Rin"s vocal talent, and highlights their potential and great skill.

EXO Delays Comeback Due to Ferry Tragedy

Boy group, EXO, is delaying its comeback due to the Sewol Ferry tragedy that took place in Korea on April 16.

SM Entertainment announced on April 18 through EXO’s official homepage that the release of the group’s new mini album, which was originally scheduled for April 21, has been postponed.

The agency stated, “After discussing with the EXO members regarding the release of their new album and their promotion activities in Korea, we have decided to postpone the release of their new mini album “Overdose,” which was originally scheduled to release on April 21.”
