Netizens furious for the treatment actors Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong received during Korean visit
The actors of upcoming 20th Century Fox film ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ -Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong – arrived in Korea this past September 19, to promote the film’s upcoming premiere.
The three actors then carried out their first day of promotional schedules on September 20, but it seems the treatment the three received from their various schedules is infuriating Korean fans.
Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong’s first schedule was a ‘Kakao TV’ live interview broadcast, hosted by comedian/MC Kim Young Chul. But after tuning into the live broadcast, fans flooded the SNS of the interview’s host ‘KBS News’ with complaints. Some complained that the actors had difficulty understanding Kim Young Chul’s English, some complained that Kim Young Chul did too many unnecessary comedy impressions and made remarks to make himself stand out instead of the actors, and some complained that the interview questions had nothing to do with the upcoming film, instead asking the actors if they liked Korean food, if they knew their Korean nicknames, etc. Many demanded that the interview should have been carried out by Eric Nam.

Then, afterward, the actors were scheduled to appear at an exclusive premiere event for ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’, walking down the red carpet surrounded by fans, then holding a greeting and interview on stage in front of fans.
The red carpet event began exactly on schedule, andTaron Egerton, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong spent approximately 45 mins taking photos or signing autographs. However, the greeting and interview event was then delayed, making fans and the actors wait about 15 mins, before the entire event was cancelled without warning.
Discontent fans took to online communities to spread rumors that the greeting event was cancelled because the actors decided they did not want to participate in it, but shortly afterward, 20th Century Fox Korea posted an official notice of apology. It turns out, the delay occurred because the equipment to broadcast the greeting live kept malfunctioning, so the staff decided to cancel the live broadcast. Some staff misunderstood the announcement as the entire event being cancelled, and promptly transported the actors back to their hotels, resulting in the unfortunate fiasco.
