NBA Star Jeremy Lin talked openly about the sad truth Asian men still face

In a recent interview, basketball star Jeremy Lin talked about some of the hardships that Asian-American men face due to stereotypes in media.

Jeremy Lin has become a household name for his continued success in the NBA, but he has had to fight through hardships to gain the popularity he has now.

Asian men are constantly being emasculated in mainstream media, and Lin has had to fight to break these stereotypes. Even now, Lin still has to convince security guards that hes a player when he enters the gym on game days.

In a recent interview with fitness guru Kevin Kreider, Lin shared that Asian-American masculinity is something that needs to be talked about more and shares his experience during his draft when people compared him to another player, Jon Wall.

Me and Jon [Wall] were the fastest people in the draft, but he was athletic and I was ‘deceptively’ athletic. I think I’ve been deceptively ‘whatever’ my whole life.

Lim also mentioned that its rare to see women dating Asian men because of the stereotype that Asian men are not attractive.

I feel like a lot of times we had a lot of Asian girls going for non-Asian guys. You don’t see a lot of non-Asian girls going for Asian guys. That’s just like when they say ‘yellow fever’ growing up, it wasn’t like all these white girls are going for Asian guys. It was the Asian girls going for white guys.”

Despite all of this, Lin believes that people will gain an appreciation for Asians if they keep being themselves and doing the best that they can.
