Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye’s Lotte Concert Proceed Under Solemn Atmosphere

Previously it was reported that Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye were caught in a dilemma concerning their April 18 concert from the “Hallyu Star Family Concert” series put on by Lotte at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium. Lee Minho and Park Shin Hye, in addition to the other stars in attendance, requested that the event be postponed in light of the recent Korean ferry tragedy, but Lotte objected, citing that it’s impossible to postpone something for which 12,000 foreign fans are specifically flying in for. Lotte had already postponed the shows on April 19 and 20, which are going to be for Korean fans.

The April 18 concert went on as planned, shortened from its original two hours and a half to one hour. Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye went on stage dressed in black and simply met their fans without putting on any special performances and events originally planned

Lotte Duty Free planned the K Live concert for the international fans on April 18, 2014, a concert featuring singers Lee Seung Hwan, Baek Ji Young, Kim Bum Soo, and Hwi Sung on April 19, 2014, and the K Pop concert on April 20, 2014, featuring idol groups such as EXO K, B1A4, and Girls Day. Since the ferry disaster, the performances on April 19 and April 20 have been postponed indefinitely. However, the performances on April 18 will be conducted without changes, because over ten thousand international fans already arrived to Korea for the concert. The celebrities who were supposed to connect with the international fans in the concert on April 18, such as actor Lee Min Ho and actress Park Shin Hye, requested to postpone their appearances

Actress Park Shin Hye shared her condolences for the ferry disaster. Actress Park Shin Hye on April 16, 2014, tweeted, "Please, please let them be safe. Please let there be no more deaths. I hope a lot of the students will go back to the arms of their families. I am praying and praying." Actress Park Shin Hye expressed her condolences for the missing as the number of deaths has increased after the ferry sank. In related news, Lotte Duty Free shop hosted a fan meeting event with Park Shin Hye and Lee Min Ho. In order to show condolences for the ferry disaster, the size of the event was decreased, and the concerts and performances were canceled.

Although celebrities were canceling events left and right out of respect for the passenger ship accident, Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye ultimately decided to attend Lotte"s duty-free shop event on April 18 with thoughtful explanations behind their decisions. It was originally to be a three day event from April 18 to April 20, but the last two dates were canceled.

However, the circumstances for April 18 were different as the main audience for this event was foreigners, more than 10,000 foreigners already entered the country in order to take part in the event; therefore, a sudden cancellation was deemed impossible, according to the Lotte duty-free shop"s side. The people believed they could not forcefully turn away the overseas spectators, who purchased plane tickets and booked hotels in Korea just for this event

The Jindo ferry disaster, which so far has resulted in at least 28 deaths, has prompted four top Hallyu stars to request a postponement in promotional activities schedules for this weekend.

Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye were set to attend a three-day Hallyu Star Family Concert in Seoul this weekend but considering the tragedy, the stars asked to postpone the event. Lotte cancelled events for this weekend but insisted that today"s event, which was arranged for international fans must proceed as planned.

The stars" representatives officially requested a postponement, saying that the entire nation was in a state of grief and that to hold a concert in these circumstances would be inappropriate. The celebrities are following their conscience but Lotte remained firm in their stance. They said that many fans had flown into Korea for the event and would find it difficult to attend the event if it was postponed

Chinese Entertainment Site Votes Lee Min Ho The Biggest Hallyu Star

It"s no secret that Lee Min Ho is a well-loved actor in China but according to a recent survey he is the most popular Hallyu actor there.

In a survey conducted by the Chinese entertainment site Kugou, the star of "The Heirs earned 510,764 votes of 37 percent of the votes for his role as the conflicted chaebol Kim Tan. The survey asked voters to choose their favorite Hallyu star and the results reflect the ever-increasing popularity of k-dramas in China.

Since the drama aired, Lee Min Ho has acquired more than 20 million Weibo followers. The number of fans worldwide on his various social media accounts stands at 13 million Facebook and seven million online.

Lee Min Ho has been popular in China since he appeared as the spoiled Gun Jun Pyo in "Boys Over Flowers." His role as a man bent on revenge in the 2011 drama "City Hunter" further increased his popularity there but no one could have predicted how popular he would become as a result of his appearance in "The Heirs
