MAMA, Adam Lambert, B.o.B, Mnet
Representatives of the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards have confirmed the attendance of top stars Adam Lambert (American Idol Season 8) and B.o.B (Bobby Ray Simmons, "Nothing on You") to the awards festivities being held in Hong Kong on November 30.Last year's MAMA show in Singapore also featured world class artists including will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. This year, the addition of Adam Lambert and B.o.B further adds glitter to the already stellar line up that includes Jackie Chan among many others.
Adam Lambert is often considered as a strong rival to Lady Gaga. He became prominent after appearing on the eighth season of "American Idol". In 2009, Adam released his debut albumwhich sold 2 million copies and earned him the Grammy Award nomination for "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance" and also numerous international awards and honors. Following all the success,his second albumwas released inMay 2012in which he was also the executive producer. The album claimed the no.1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart for him for the first time with a funk-rock sensibility whichalso made himimmensely popular in Europe.
B.o.B, whose debut single released in 2010, ranked number one on the Billboard chart as an American hip hop artist and singer-songwriter. After his debut single reached number one on the Billboard single chart two weeks in a row, B.o.B instantly gained his reputation worldwide. His official debut albumalso reached number one on the U.S. charts, showing his ability as a multi-talented musician. Notably, he alsofeatured for Korean-American rapper and dancer Jay Park (Park Jae Bum) and ranked number one in online music charts in Korea, proving his popularity among fans around the world.
The "MAMA" production team expressed their confidence by saying, "With globally recognized artists joining from all parts of the world, '2012 MAMA' has successfully positioned itself to be Asia's most representative music awards ceremony. We will showcase world-class superb performances that have never been seen in any other award ceremony before." They also mentioned that MAMA will be a place where all musicians and fans around the world can come together and share their thoughts through music.
"2012 MAMA" will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC) onNovember 30, 2012(Friday). It will be streamed live to viewers worldwide as well.
