Kriesha Tiu, First Filipino To Become a K-Pop Idol: 17-Year-Old To Debut Solo This May!

Urban Works Entertainment officially confirmed that Kriesha Tiu will be debuting soon as a K-pop idol. Kriesha will be debuting as a solo artist.

“We are currently preparing for Kriesha Tiu’s solo debut which is planned for May,” said Urban Works Entertainment on Saturday, April 22. “The schedule has not been confirmed yet so there may still be changes in the release schedule.”

As reported by Koreaboo, Kriesha Tiu finished strong at second place on “K-Pop Star 6: The Last Chance”. Kriesha Tiu will be the first among the show finishers to debut with an album. Kriesha Tiu huge fanbase in her home country in the Philippines has made her quite a popular celebrity.

The agency also revealed how Kriesha Tiu has been preparing for her solo career long before her appearance in “K-Pop Star 6: The Last Chance”. However, her debut was delayed since she was called to the show. Urban Works Entertainment also added that they are doing their best to release a flawless debut for Kriesha.

Kriesha Tiu (commonly spelled “Chrisha Choo”) is a Filipino-American trainee for Urban Works Entertainment. According to Philippine news outlet ABS-CBN News, Kreisha Tiu was living in San Francisco, California when the agency scouted the 17-year-old “soon to be” Fil-Am K-pop idol. Kreisha was originally born in Cebu, Philippines.

Kriesha Tiu then immediately went to a Korean institute to brush up on her Korean. It is obvious how much of a hard worker Kriesha Tiu is since she has learned to speak Korean, one of the most difficult languages to learn in the world.

Kriesha Tiu first got the attention of the K-Pop Star judges when she auditioned in December 2016. Kriesha Tiu sang Urban Zakapa’s “I Don’t Love You” and danced to the tune of Justin Bieber’s hit song “Boyfriend”.

Kriesha Tiu was unfortunately eliminated in the show in January. However, she was saved by the judges and fortunately made it back to the show.

Kriesha Tiu is currently living with her mother and little brother in Korea. She wrote her name in the history book as the first ever Filipino to become a K-pop idol.
