On March 20, entertainment director Won Man Sik of MBC announced, As of now, MBC has no future plans regarding the fourth season of Star Audition.
A source from the production company of the third season of Star Audition also confirmed that they have not received any inquiries about making the next season of Star Audition from MBC. The source added, You never know since MBC produced the first two seasons of the show on their own, so they might be doing that again.
Considering Star Auditions rather aggressive promotions in the past, many experts are assuming that Star Audition is cancelled. Previously, Star Audition started discussing and preparing for another season as soon as the prior season is over. Teaser video clips and TV commercials promoting the show have yet to be seen.
Star Audition first aired in November 2010. The show differed from other popular talent-search audition programs with a new format of mentorship. Baek Chung Gang one the first season and Goo Ja Myung in the second one. In the most recent season, Han Dong Geun became the lucky winner.
However, the ratings of the show continued to decline since season 1. What was once a 20% rated show is now struggling to maintain its a single-digit number in ratings. In addition to low ratings, Star Audition have been continuously criticized for not being able to garner attention from the public. Due to low ratings and publicity, the winners from the program have not launched their careers as successfully as other audition program winners have.
Meanwhile the most recent winner Han Dong Geun and runner up Park Soo Jin are currently looking for agencies to work with after the show ended.
Eugene, from the original fairy group S.E.S, has been confirmed as the main MC for MBC’s “Star Audition” Season 3 (from now on known as “Star Audition 3”).
On September 20, the production team from “Star Audition 3” has revealed that Eugene will become the main MC. A production staff explained, “Eugene has experience being the main MC for several programs and have been recognized for her stable method of running the shows. She will be able to give insightful advices as a senior because she has experience being part of an idol group in the past. Also, she will be a secret mentor for one of the contestants so please look forward to that.”
Eugene shared her thoughts through her representative, “I will try my best to be warm like an older sister to the contestants and will have “Star Audition” become more moving.”
“Star Audition 3” has finished all local and abroad auditions and is slated for a mid-October broadcast.
In other news, one of the final contestants for the second season is preparing for his debut with Lunafly. Brown Eyed Girl’s Jea gave a shoutout to support her fellow labelmates. Soompi had the chance to have an exclusive interview and Lunafly gave a great performance.

leeA recent clip of Lee Hai and Park Ji Min was revealed.
In the new promotional teaser for 'Kpop Star Season 2', clips of Kpop Star winners Park Ji Min and Lee Hai can be seen as well as other Top 10 members.
What stands out the most are the improved appearances of the participants of the previous season as they have each been casted into different agencies.

The second season of MBC "Star Audition" ended on March 30 with 12.1% rating. Compared to last season's finale episode, which accomplished 21.8% in rating, this was a disappointing result. The second season of "Star Audition" was greatly affected by "MBC Labor Union Strike." A live episode was cancelled unexpectedly and producers and emcees were changed. As a result, the program's quality was not up to par with the first season and the viewers could not help but to notice the difference.
Despite such disappointing results of the second season, MBC plans on producing the third season of "Star Audition." Since a large number of producers are participating in the strike, it is more cost-effective for MBC to produce another season of currently existing show than to try to come up with something entirely new. An official from MBC commented, "Since this season failed to produce a big star or even to make something attention worthy, there has been talks about canceling 'Star Audition' altogether, but in the end, we decided to go with season three. Other than casting new mentors, there is not much hardship in producing the third season. We are going to keep the original editing and concept."
The third season of "Star Audition" will air in the second half of 2012. A source revealed, "Although nothing is scheduled really, we plan on airing the show sometime after the summer. We will start auditioning in June and July for the third season."
SBS 'KPOP Star' is coming to an end on April 29th.
It has been announced that KPOP Star is coming to an end as of April 29, 2012 and the discussions of a possible season 2 are taking place at SBS.
A representative of 'KPOP Star' has commented, "The current judges, BoA, Yang Hyunsuk, and Park Jinyoung have revealed their desire to participate in season2."
'KPOP Star' is a Korean audition program with representatives from the Korea's top three entertainment companies, YG, SM, and JYP, participating as judges. The winner of this audition program will go home with $300,000 and a contact with SM, YG, or JYP to become a singer.
