K-pop Transformer Girl Group AOA to Represent Korea in Sundown Festival 2013 in Singapore

On November 16th, in the prominent ground of the F1 Pit Building in Singapore's Marina Promenade, 10 established up-and-coming Asian music acts will represent their countries.

FNC Entertainment's transformer girl group, AoA (Ace of Angels), is set to represent Korea and K-pop in the prestigious gathering. Otherheadlining acts hail from seven other Asian countries-Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand, including Screw, D=OUT, Bosco Wong, Shao Yu Han, Yoga Lin, Nidji, Rico Blanco, Rock Steddy and No More Tear.

Drawing fans from all across Southeast Asia, Sundown Festival turns Marina Promenade into an Asian music and cultural central for an eight-hour long celebration- completed by an Asian street food village supported by leading food portal in Singapore, Hungrygowhere.com-establishing itself as a must-see event.

Tickets (Cat 1 at $138 and Cat 2 at $98, Early Bird Tickets at $68 are sold out) for this live music event are on sale on SISTIC and pay no booking fee at www.sundownfestival.sg

K-pop fanatics can expect a sugar rush from the sweet yet fiercely adorable angels of Ace of Angels (AOA) a truly unique versatile music group that interchange between a five-member female band and a seven-member idol group. All eight members from AOA will be making their full appearance at the festival. So, expect to see both AOA Black and AOA White in their best performances.

Red Spade Entertainment says, "The unique proposition of Sundown Festival as the only annual music festival in southeast Asia to unite Asian music and culture speaks volumes of Singapore's strong reputation as a centre for creativity and innovation in the region."

Aside from music and entertainment festival goers can also expect a tasting of street food sourced from all the eight Asian countries and mini cultural performances such as "the barong" (storytelling dance form) from Indonesia, Tinikling B-boys (a mix of traditional pre-Spanish tap dancing with bamboo poles and breakdancing) from the Philippines and muaythai from Thailand.

Undoubtedly the largest Asian music festival: Sundown

"Year five of Sundown Festival is a milestone," said Samantha Chan, director of the Festival.

"We have set a simple goal: to bring the burgeoning stars in Asian rock and pop music together for the best show in the region, a show that the world can only see in Singapore. And that is exactly what we have done; these acts we have brought in this year will rock your socks off, bring pride to being Asian and prove once again, there is no place more exciting than Singapore's Marina Promenade this 16th November," added Chan.

Music industry insiders consulted to release a 2013 Girl Group Ranking chart1st tier: Girls Generation, 2NE1; 2nd tier: SISTAR(+1), KARA; 3rd tier: miss A, T-ara(-1), Wonder Girls(-1), f(x)(between 2nd3rd tier), Brown Eyed Girls; 4th tier: SECRET, Girls Day(+1), After School, 4minute; 5th tier: A Pink, Rainbow, Nine Muses(+1), Dal Shabet; 6th tier: SPICA, Hello Venus, Ladies Code, AOA

Korean media outlet Sports Chosun has released their 2013 Girl Group Ranking after consulting with music industry insiders on who they feel are the hottest girl groups these days.

Back in February of last year, a netizen created a ranking of girl groups and posted it on a community board, attracting much attention from fans. Sports Chosun has decided to follow up by releasing their own version and updating that previously revealed ranking, after having received input from sources in the music industry.

Just like the previous ranking, Girls Generation and 2NE1 remained at the top tier, which is called the ‘insurmountable 4D wall (on another level)’. Following behind them is SISTAR, who has jumped up one level with their winning streak of hit songs in 2012, and is now on the Korea and Japan level, which is where KARA still remains.

T-ara and Wonder Girls moved down to the third level High Class, joining miss A and Brown Eyed Girls. T-ara was downgraded due to their controversy involving former member Hwayoungs leave last year, and Wonder Girls received their downgrade with the focusing on their solo activities following Suns recent marriage. Meanwhile, f(x) kept their position between the second and third tiers.

Girls Day who surprised the nation with their sexy comeback also moved up to the level of SECRET, After School, and 4minute on the 4th tier, Mania Level.  A Pink, Rainbow, Dal Shabet remained at the same level, and were joined by Nine Muses in the 5th tier of rising popularity. SPICA, Hello Venus, Ladies Code, and AOA, as rookies, made the cut off at the 6th and final tier or candidates.

Do you agree with this ranking? Leave your thoughts below.
