EXO fans are worrying more and more about EXO’s Lay status with the group and his current activities. Netizens have been speculating that the artist is following the footsteps of his previous Chinese members who left on bad terms.
Everyone knows that EXO hit a bit of a bump in their career when members Kris Wu, Luhan and Tao had left the group after suing SM Entertainment. The group went from having 12 members to now 9 with only 8 currently promoting together in Korea.
Lay was been absent from a majority of 2017’s activities, including the group’s concerts and successful comebacks with “KoKo Bop” and now “Power.” While Lay reassured fans he wasn’t terminating his contract, netizens are speculating his long absencewill ultimately result in his departure.
Netizens also speculated that the strain media relationship between China and Korean ever since the THAAD incident is another factor taking effect on his career within the group. Plus, Lay has been pursuing a number of solo activities within China. Another big detail netizens can’t help but mention is the eerie similarity in how they are departing. Although Lay hasn’t filed a lawsuit, he was recently made into a wax figure in China’s at Madam Tussauds, which resulted in the departure of Kris Wu, Tao and Luhan once theirs were made. What do you think of these odd but interesting speculations?
Currently, Lay is still working on solo promotions and SM Entertainment has not revealed any information regarding this post or Lay’s future involvement with EXO. Stay tuned for more updates.
