According to the police, Cha Joo Hyuk was found driving an Audi in a drunken state on October 30, 2017. While he was driving, he ended up hitting three pedestrians. At the time, his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.112 percent (Koreas BAC limit is 0.05 percent), resulting in a cancellation of his drivers license.

Afterwards, one of the pedestrians was found with a collarbone fracture, while the other two had injuries such as a cervical sprain.

Meanwhile, Cha Joo Hyuk is being prosecuted without detention for smoking marijuana cigarettes in the basement of a parking garage back in March 2016. He was also revealed to have been caught smuggling drugs into Canada in November 2016.

Then in April, he was additionally charged for ecstasy injections and marijuana dealing. Starting from April 2016 to August 2016, Cha Joo Hyuk was suspected to have inhaled and dispensed drugs such as marijuana, ketamine, and ecstasy 13 times as he traveled between Korea and the Netherlands. He is also suspected of introducing a marijuana seller after receiving a request from someone this past February. He also bought 3 million won (approximately $2,650) worth of marijuana after receiving a request and demanded 3 to 4 kilograms (approximately 7 to 9 pounds) of marijuana in return as a service charge.

Cha Joo Hyuk previously debuted as a member in the K-pop group Co-Ed School back in 2010, and left the group after getting swept up in a sex crime scandal.
