Filipino-American Made Millions Off Snapchat And Is Now Living His Dream

Garrett Gee became a sensation after selling his QR code scanning system to Snapchat for $54 million, but he decided to use his money in an unconventional way.

Garret Gee came up with a QR code system and launched his own startup called Scan while he was still studying at Brigham Young University.

After appearing on the show Shark Tank and gaining international attention, he sold his company to Snapchat for $54 million.

When Garrett and his wife Jessica were figuring out what to do with that huge amount of money, they decided that they wanted to travel the world.

But instead of using the newfound fortune to fund their adventure, they put it all into savings and sold everything they owned for traveling money.

When asked why they decided to be frugal while traveling, the couple revealed that they felt uncomfortable being thoughtless with money and wanted to show humility by living frugality.
