Singer G-Dragon of boy group Big Bang's first solo album, having just been released in Japan, hit second place on the Oricon weekly chart, according to his agency YG Entertainment yesterday.
The album, "Coup D'Etat", sold over 100,000 copies and has become the second most popular album in the first week of December.
On the newest record the singer included songs he first released in Korea on mini-albums "One of a Kind" in 2012 and "Heartbreaker" in 2009.
He also introduced the songs "Crooked", "Who You", and "Black" in Japanese. Park Bom of girl group 2NE1 also contributed her talents to the Japanese version of "Black".

G-Dragon was listed as number five on the list, compiled by the Seoul Broadcasting System program "Good Morning," with total earnings of $744,000.
SM Entertainment staff producer Yoo Young Jin, responsible for writing hits for major acts like Shinhwa and Super Junior, landed the number four spot with $782,000 in 2012 songwriting royalties.

Showbox recently announced on October 16 that “The Commitment,” in which Big Bang’s T.O.P plays the main role, will premiere in the United States and Europe.
According to Showbox, Wellgo USA has bought distribution rights for “The Commitment.” The company has previously done the same for the movies “The Man From Nowhere” (2010), “The Front Line” (2011), “My Way” (2011), and most recently, “Thieves” (2012), and had successful releases.
Wellgo USA said, “‘The Commitment’ will premiere in major cities in the United States on the twenty-ninth of November. This will be roughly three weeks after the premiere in Korea
Having conquered the world with successful tour, Big Bang members will finally coming back together with a new single later this year.
According to local media outlet Star News, Big Bang will release a new song in Korea before its Japanese tour in November. The song will then be released in Japan, where Big Bang will promote it while on its Japan Dome Tour.
The single’s release date is expected to be at the end of October or early November at the latest. This will be the first single Big Bang has released since “Monster” in June 2012.

G-Dragon is getting a lot of attention from such foreign media as Fuse TV, Complex, and Dazed & Confused. His second studio album, consisting of Coup d’état Parts 1 and 2 and two new songs, will be released on September 13.
