New coverage by Chinese media outlet Sina on October 17 further supports this claim, suggesting that he may have signed his contract by now.

The speculation is based on a recent Instagram post by the daughter of Hwai Brothers CEO, Wang Zhonglei. She had written, “Wu Yi Fan, whom Wang Zhonglei loves, is a new addition to the family. Congratulations. I will look forward to your third movie next year,” and uploaded a picture of the two together. The post was deleted not too long afterwards, but it had already been screen captured and distributed around Weibo and reported through Chinese media. ...

Former EXO member Kris is being in-demand in China as he is confirmed to appear on his third movie directed by GuanHu.

Huayi Brothers confirms today that Wu Yifan is among the cast of the upcoming movie 老炮儿 (Lao Bao Er) alongside Feng XiaoGang, Zhang Hanyu, Xu Zheng, Jiang Wen and Zhang Guoli. This movie which is expected to premiere next year is going to be Wu Yifan’s third film after “Somewhere Only We Know” and “Passion of Heaven”.

SM Entertainment didn”t always have the best of reputations. Dating “scandals” and shady tax business aside, SM is known for their history of “slave contracts”. “Slave contracts” in the K-Pop world refer to how contracts used to be like back in the days, before some newer laws were set in place, with harsh terms that deny idols a say in anything and keep them bound to their label for 13 or so years. Hangeng is one of the few who fled from SM because of these unfair contracts.
