Psy performs ahead of the 2013 Italian Cup final at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on Sunday.
It seems that some European football fans are immune to Psy's hit song "Gangnam Style" -- at least before their clubs are about to battle it out on the pitch.
The Korean rapper got a shock to the system on Sunday when his performance at the Olympic Stadium in Rome ahead of the Italian Cup final was met with resounding boos from the stands.
Although the singer tried to amuse spectators with his much-imitated horse-riding dance, he was unable to win them over. The Italian fans cheered for their respective teams and set off fireworks during his performance, but Psy still exited gracefully and thanked them before leaving the stage.
This came in stark contrast to the scenes that played out in other parts of the country last November, when a huge crowd of 30,000 people gathered to sang Psy's viral song at the Piazza del Popolo in Rome, while another 20,000 followed suit in front of the Duomo Cathedral in Milan
According to a local report on April 28, Lee Joon Gi took part in recording Hunan TV’s Happy Camp in Changsha, China, on April 26. Happy Camp is the most popular variety show in China and many Korean-wave stars, such as Kim Hyun Joong, Lee Min Ho, Lee Da Hae, and Jang Keun Suk, have appeared in it.
As a main guest, Lee Joon Gi danced the horse dance from “Gangnam Style” and did his best at a number of games, such as the “cloud-ladder fight” and a balloon-popping competition, which made the audience laugh a lot at his happy, whimsical charm.
On his social networking account, Lee had expressed his sorrow over the victims of the earthquake in Ya’an, Sichuan, because of which he had to cancel a number of event he had been scheduled to do in China
Psy fans set a world record as the largest number of people to dance in unison while at the rapper's concert in front of Seoul City Hall in October, according to the Korea Record Institute yesterday.
The agency estimated that about 100,000 people came to the concert based on videos, photos and other reports.
"Psy's performance at Seoul City Hall contributed greatly to the spread of Korean culture", the institute said.
It is unclear whether Guinness World Records will acknowledge the feat. In September, Psy received a certificate from the organization for having the highest number of likes on YouTube.
