Arang is an aggrieved ghost who happens to suffer from amnesia. She sets out on a journey to find her true identity but first she needs to find someone in the living world who can see her and help her. That person is Eun-oh. She makes a plea to Eun-oh to help her recover her memories. Eun-oh jokingly tells her that he would only help her if he becomes the district magistrate and so Arang cleverly finds a way to have him appointed as a magistrate overnight

Historical fantasy dramas were a favorite at this year's Seoul DramaAwards, with the top prizes for the best Hallyu drama, actor and actressand even the best OST contribution going to dramas that were set in thepast.
The drama with the most awards was the ghostly saeguk "Arang and theMagistrate," which won for Excellent Korean Drama and had its lead LeeJun Ki win for best actor.
Miss A's Suzy Bae won for her role as Dam YeoWol in "Gu Family Book, a drama about a half-mythical creaturestruggling to become human.
The prize for the best OST contribution wentto JYJ's Kim Jae Joong for his song "Living A Dream." That song wasfeatured in the time-travel drama "Dr. Jin," starring Song Seung Joon,Park Min Young and Kim Jae Joong
Actor Lee Jun Ki and Suzy of miss A will be receiving Hallyu Drama Awards at the upcoming Seoul Drama Awards 2013.
The two stars have been chosen to take the honor as the Outstanding Korean Drama Actor and Actress at the ‘2013 Seoul Drama Awards’ which will take place on September 5 at the National Theater of Korea.
Also, Lee Jun Ki’s previous MBC drama ‘Arang and the Magistrate’ won the grand prize of the Hallyu Drama Award category along with SBS’ ‘King of Ambition’
Meanwhile, the ‘Seoul Drama Awards’ will be hosted by Gu Family Book’s co-stars Lee Sung Jae and Suzy.
Lee Joon-gi and Susy were selected as Top Halkyu Acts at this year’s Seoul Drama Awards.
Seoul International Drama Awards 2013, which will be held on September 5th at the National Theater of Korea, is one of the world’s leading TV festival with its biggest-ever entry numbers of 225 from 48 countries in total.
“Arang and the Magistrate” and “Yawang” will receive the Excellent Korean Drama and the Outstanding Korean Drama Awards, respectively. And Lee Joon-gi of “Arang and the Magistrate” and Suzy of “Gu Family Book” have been chosen as the Outstanding Korean Actor and the Outstanding Korean Actress based on online voting and expert opinion.
Dramas competed for the Excellent Drama were sold to over 15 countries or surpassed three million USD in exports since they were aired first episode on the three terrestrial TV networks from January 2012 to May 2013
After his Japanese fan meeting, actor Lee Jun Ki will hold a Korean fan meeting under the title, ’JG TIME with you…at home‘, scheduled to be at the Seoul Arts Center on December 29th.
According to a representative, “[Lee Jun Ki] will unveil a single to be released next year for the first time. He will perform a live concert, show the history of his past productions and will hold an update talk session. Hopefully, it will be a memorable experience for fans.”
Lee Jun Ki’s agency shared, “After finishing his returning drama ‘Arang and the Magistrate’, Lee Jun Ki immediately began planning and preparing for the fan meeting. He practiced for over ten hours a day on his singing and choreography. He directly participated in the stage production as well
Three months after he was given over 10 tons of rice from fans for his drama "Arang and the Magistrate", Lee Joon-ki has decided to hand over the donations to Korea Food for the Hungry International.
On Nov. 1, Lee visited the charity's office and handed over a certificate citing his donation of 10,407 kilograms of rice sent to him from fans as far as Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey, Bulgaria and Ukraine to name a few.
At the time Lee received the gifts at his press conference, he was undecided as to which organization he'd donate to.
The organization said that Lee's gift will feed more than 90,000 people and that most of it will go towards malnourished children and seniors that live alone.

Actor Lee Joon Gi recently donated ten tons of rice that he received from his overseas fans.
On November 7, Lee’s agency reported, “Lee Joon Gi visited the Korea Food for the Hungry International on November 1 and donated ten tons of rice.”
Lee received the rice at the press conference for the production of MBC TV’s drama series Arang and the Magistrate in August. The rice was given by Lee’s fans from Japan, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, and the U.S. According to Lee’s agency, the fans have collected money for three months to cheer for Lee with the rice.
The ten tons of rice can be provided to 90,000 people. It will be donated to children who suffer from hunger and senior citizens who live alone.
