Last night at the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards, the best of K-Pop came together to celebrate the success and the achievements in music all year round. One of the most awaited categories of the night was the Album of the Year award which reflects on the album that not only topped the charts, but also in sales, views and listens via online music sites.
Super Junior's album Sexy, Free & Single was crowned Album of the Year and the group was also complimented as being one of the leading K-Pop icons of the hallyu wave.
MAMA broadcasted live from the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and will be rebroadcasted on MNET America
Relatively new to the scene, NU'EST has been making waves in the k-pop industry since their debut in March 2012.The five member group has released three single albums and one EP. Their next role will be to go to America to work as judges.
The boys' agency, Pledis Entertainment, is taking the five boys to act as judges for the "2012 Pledis Asian-American Auditions in the USA".Auditions will take place on October 14th in both Los Angeles and San Francisco, though NU'EST members will only be at the Los Angeles auditions.Applications will be accepted by Pledis from Friday, September 28th until October 9th. To promote the auditions, Pledis Entertainment has uploaded a video of NU'EST's Aron announcing the upcoming event.
While in America, NU'EST will be performing at "K-Con 2012," alongside other kpop bands, such as 4minute, EXO-M, G
The lineup of performers for the Asia Song Festival this year has been confirmed. Performers from all over Asia are scheduled for the event that will be taking place in Yeosu, Korea on August 4th at 7PM KST. Bringing artists from various Asian countries, the festival hopes to have an impact on the participants with its culture exchange.
Representing the Hallyu wave, the following singers are set to perform: Kim Hyunjoong, MBLAQ, SISTAR, Teen Top, ZE:A, Ailee, B1A4, Brave Guys, and Tiger JK featuring Yoon Mirae.
Aqua Timez from Japan will be making an appearance as well as Weichen from China, Fann Wong from Singapore, Yoga Lin from Taiwan, and Candy Mafia from Thailand.
Visitors of Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea can view the concert free of charge with the purchase of a ticket to the Expo.

Mr. Choe Kwang-Shik Calls It "Road of Korean Wave"

"South Korea's cultural influence is now spreading across Asia and to the rest of the world", said South Korea's Culture Minister Choe Kwang-Shik at a recent forum in Seoul.
The breakfast forum was held on May 3 (Thursday), 2012 by Chairman Chang Man-Key of Korea Human Resources Development Institute (KHDI) at Lotte Hotel in downtown Seoul.
Minister Choe said that the Korean Wave had been limited to mostly Asian countries including Japan and China until last year.
"The Korean Wave was limited to Asia and its contents were mostly dramas up until last year", he argued.
"But now it is virtually spreading throughout the world as the K-pop was highly successful in its European invasion in the year 2011"
He said that the word Korean Wave (韓流) was first coined in 1999 by a Chinese journalist after he was surprised by the growing influence and popularity of Korean entertainment and culture in China
