DBSK Sets New Record in Japan With Over Three Million Singles Sold

DBSK has set yet another record in Japan! The group has just sold over three million copies of the singles they have released since their debut.

The boys’ latest single, ANDROID, has sold more than 152,000 copies during its first week of release, topping the Japanese Oricon weekly singles chart.

ANDROID is DBSK’s eleventh single that has ranked first in the Oricon chart. Following the success of the single, Oricon reported that the group has garnered the largest sales for foreign groups with a total of 3, 104,000 copies sold. The last foreign group to achieve this feat was the American duo, The Carpenters, ten years ago.

DBSK recently wrapped up their “TONE” tour in Japan which had more than 500,000 attendees.

F.T. Island to endorse ‘Toreore Chicken’ with a new CF

Toreore Chicken‘ has officially announced the news of idol band F.T. Island being selected as their endorsement models.

The boys have already completed their filming for the upcoming CF last month, so fans can expect to see the full ad soon featuring the boys and their love for chicken!.

Top idols are often selected to endorse Korean chicken franchise brands, and F.T. Island who recently received the opportunity remarked, “All the members really like chicken, and we are extremely excited to be selected as advertisement models.”

Sistar’s ‘Alone’ is the most-watched music video on YouTube Korea

Sistar's "Alone" was the most-watched music video in Korea for the first half of this year according to YouTube.On July 17, the girl group's agency reported that the clip had been watched more than 10 million times. If views on various music portal Web sites are included, that number rises to 15 million.The song was released in April and was the title track of an EP that topped various online charts.The K-pop quartet is also looking forward to hosting its very first solo concert in September.Starship Entertainment announced on July 9 that the group's first concert will take place at Olympic Hall in eastern Seoul."The concert will showcase the charisma and talents of the girls", said a spokesperson from the agency.The group said that it hopes to converse and connect with fans at the show

Rookie Boy Band BIGSTAR Snaps a Photo with Wooyoung

New boy band BIGSTAR revealed a snap shot with 2PM‘s Wooyoung. BIGSTAR’s FeelDog and BarRam posted on their official online cafe, “FeelDog & BarRam snaps a photo with Wooyoung hyung to celebrate our reunion!! I was so nervous about making a debut, but Wooyoung cheered me up! ^^” along with two proof shots with Wooyoung.

The revealed pictures show Wooyoung with FeelDog and BarRam in what seems to be a backstage waiting room of a music show. All three of them are smiling at the camera, holding up Wooyoung’s new solo album “23, Male, Single.” Netizens commented on these pictures, “FeelDog was really a trainee at JYP?” “The three of them look good together for some odd reason,” and “BarRam’s from JYP, too?” “Hot Boy and Sexy Lady! Good Luck!”

Both FeelDog and BarRam have won awards at JYP Entertainment‘s open auditions and served their time as JYP trainees before moving on to BIGSTAR

CNBLUE’s Jonghyun’s “My Love” for ‘Gentlemen’s Class’ tops weekly OST charts

CNBLUE‘s Jonghyun, who is participating in SBS‘s ‘Gentlemen’s Class’, is gathering great interest not only on the small screen but on music charts as well with his recent release of the OST single, “My Love”.

“My Love” was first performed by Jonghyun’s character on the July 7th episode of ‘Gentlemen’s Class’. Ever since then, the song has been steadily rising on charts such as Melon’s Top Weekly Music Chart and Weekly Ringtone Chart, Bugs’ Weekly OST Chart, Mnet’s OST Chart, and Cymusic Hot New Songs Chart.

The Pussycat Dolls' frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger has a cousin who is breaking into the Korean music scene.Scherzinger's male cousin, who goes by the name "Mr. Gordo", is a part of a hip-hop trio Ezis, which made its debut on July 16 with the EP "Music Evolution"."Nicole is my cousin, but because she is so busy, we don't get to see each other that often; we are always cheering each other on though", said the hip-hop singer.As well as having a superstar in the family, Ezis is gaining prominence due to the fact that Jay Park took part as a featured artist on its album.Although active in Korea, Mr. Gordo is a rapper of Spanish descent; however, his family is dispersed throughout the world – from the United States, to Spain and Korea.By Carla Sunwoo

Jung Ah officially confirmed as the new leader of After School

Girl group After School, who has become the first in K-Pop history to develop a member graduation system, has officially confirmed Jung Ah as the new leader of their team.

We previously reported this back in June but the source was from an insider, Pledis Entertainment has now officially confirmed Jung Ah to be the leader.

After School who recently made a comeback for the first time in a year with their 5th maxi single ‘Flashback‘ admitted new member Ga Eun and reluctantly bid farewell to their beloved leader Kahi. Following Kahi’s graduation, the leader position became vacant, and they had not officially revealed the member that would take her place.

"A Gentleman's Dignity" Might be Put on Hiatus Due to the Olympics

SBS makes an announcement regarding the conflict facing the schedule of their popular drama series due to the broadcast of the London 2012 Olympics.

Previously, the network made a decision to temporarily postpone the broadcast of their Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night dramas during the primetime 10:00pm time slot for the London Olympics. It appears the despite pulling in high-ratings the drama, “A Gentleman’s Dignity” might be next to go on a brief hiatus.

SBS’s drama representative announced on July 17 that, “Due to SBS airing the London 2012 Olympics, beginning on July 27, it is being discussed whether the drama ‘A Gentleman’s Dignity’ should possibly be postponed during this time.”

The official continued, “Currently, the schedule for the subsequent episodes of the drama is not definitive

Super Junior's Kyuhyun Wants to Take Siwon and Shindong to Meet Women

Super Junior’s Kyuhyun revealed that he wants to take along Shindong and Siwon if he ever had a 3-on-3 meeting with women.

On the July 17 broadcast of KBS 2TV show “1-to-100,” Kyuhyun took the challenge of being that one man, in pursuit of 50,000,000 KRW ($43,697 USD) prize.

He introduced himself as “a student at Kyunghee University, studying in the Post-Modern Music department, having entered SM company and debuted as an artist.”

The host asked, “Say you’re going on a 3-on-3 meeting. Which Super Junior members will you take?

“I wanna go with Shindong-hyung and Siwon-hyung.” Kyuhyun answered.

MC Han playfully asked, “Aren’t you just taking Shindong so you can look more handsome?”

August is set to be a crazy month for Kim Jun-su. Not only will the JYJ member and solo artist be wrapping up his Asian tour in Hong Kong, but he will embark on a world tour later in the month.CJeS Entertainment announced on Monday that the world tour will encompass eight cities in both North and South America, as well as in Europe."Ever since he went on his Asian tour, we've been flooded with calls from the rest of the world about staging concerts, so we decided to go ahead with the world tour", said Kim's representative from the agency.Meanwhile, a repackaged version of his solo album "Tarantallegra" is set to be released in tandem with the world tour.The updated edition will feature one additional English song.By Carla Sunwoo
