More and more Korean artists are entering the Billboard World Album Charts this week. SEVENTEEN, ASTRO and Loco have all joined BTS Top Social Artist BTS on the charts as of June 7.
According to a report by Soompi, SEVENTEEN, who was recently lauded by Billboard for switching up their sound and going EDM with their comeback album “AI1” stayed on the chart at #4. The K-pop group debuted on the Billboard World Album Chart at #2 last week.
Roughly a week after its release last week, K-pop group ASTRO also broke through the Billboard charts with their fourth mini album “Dream Part .01”. The album debuted on the charts at a high rank of #6.
AOMG rapper Loco also came in strong and trailed ASTRO by one spot on the Billboard chart landing at #7. The rapper’s album “Bleach” was well received and featured collaboration with other hip-hop and R B superstars like Dean, Crush, and Cha Cha Malone.
Rounding up the winning week for Korean acts is BTS who, after slipping to #12 last week surged up to #8 on the Billboard World Albums chart again for their repackaged album “You Never Walk Alone” which was released way back in February. The boost in the rankings is believed to be attributed by BTS’ recent win in the Billboard Music Awards 2017 wherein they made history as the first K-pop act to win at the BBMAs.
BTS won as the Top Social Artist at the recent Billboard Music Awards beating superstars like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendes for the honor with staggering 300 million votes from ARMY, their official fandom. BTS is well on its way to reaching Taylor Swift’s 28-week record on the Billboard Top 50 charts. The group currently holds the record of third in the most number of weeks in the charts next to Justin Bieber (161 weeks) and Swift, Kpopstarz reported.
BTS already previously smashed One Direction’s eight -week record as the Best Performing Musical Group on the Top 50 chart. On the World Album Charts, it continues its strong performance at 12 weeks. BTS is also #1 on the Billboard Social 50 chart.
