BTS is on New York Times’ ‘What Music Do Americans Love the Most?’ list

The New York Times presented ’50 Detailed Fan Maps’ of “What Music Do Americans Love the Most?” and BTS made it on the list at #44!

On August 7, the New York Times created 50 maps that”map the contours of music fandom and culture in the United States”using YouTube’s geo-coded streaming data. The media outlet “looked at the 50 that were most watched on YouTube in the United States between January 2016 and April 2017” on this spring’s Billboard Top 100. Some of the stars on the list include Rihanna, Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, and Beyonce.

BTS, who made it at #44 as the only K-Pop artist on the list, is found to be especially popular in the regions of Hawaii, California, and northern Wisconsin. The dark purple means a higher popularity in that region while lighter colors meannot as popular in that region. You see pockets of dark purple in urban areas including Seattle, Boston, Washington D.C, Baltimore, New York City, Champaign, Northern New Jersey, Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, and Houston.
