When you hear a Korean man referred to as an "um chin ah" that means he"s the kind of guy your mom would be happy you were dating.
He"s handsome, he"s smart and he"s likely to be a success. He"s really the kind of guy your mom wants you to marry.
Since all those attributes fit 17-year-old actor Yeo Jin Goo in real life, it"s only natural that he will play an um chin ah in his next drama "Orange Marmalade."
His character Jung Jae has everything going for him but unfortunately, he"s not all that interested in the kind of girls he usually meets. Jung Jae finally falls for a girl, a transfer student named Baek Ma Ri, played by AOA"s Seol Hyun. Only, Ma Ri is not quite human. She"s a vampire girl. And that does complicate things.
"Orange Marmalade" may not technically be Yeo Jin Goo"s first romance but it is the first romance in which he is not acting as the younger version of another actor.
He romanced and even married to his one true love in "The Moon Embracing The Sun" but then he was only playing the young Kim Soo Hyun. He also loved and wanted to protect Kim So Hyun in "Missing You" but then he was playing the young Park Yoo Chun.
This time the romance is all his and the actor is excited about making hearts flutter.
"As I filmed I felt excited to show what I"ve prepared until now," Yeo Jin Goo told enewsworld. "I"m looking forward to acting out a heart-fluttering romance for the first time in a long time."
In "Orange Marmalade" he not only gets to fall in love but he has to face the challenges involved in having a relationship with a supernatural being. Despite his um chin ah qualities, Ma Ri"s vampire parents might not approve of her dating someone who is still alive.
The actor debuted when he was only 8, appearing in the film "Sad Movie" and then the drama "Giant."
Yeo Jin Goo began filming "Orange Marmalade" on a romantic note. As the first day of filming took place on White Day, a day in which men traditionally give women gifts in Korea, Yeo was prepared to woo his co-workers. He handed the women in the "Orange Marmalade" cast and crew some chocolates with the name of the drama on them.
The drama is set to air in May.

K-Pop celebrities getting plastic surgeries - whether you believe the rumors or maintain that your favorite stars are still going all natural, cosmetic surgery is a topic of interest in the industry.
In increasingly more numbers, idols are beginning to open up about the work they have had done to give themselves a leg up with a "celebrity face" and the subject is becoming much less taboo.
Those who have admitted to going under the knife have talked about minor procedures, most commonly double-eyelid surgery, which also happens to be the most popular cosmetic surgery in South Korea as a whole.
Now that the shock and scandal of celebrities getting plastic has pretty much faded out of the minds of fans, it is replaced with an entirely new feeling - concern.
All across the internet there are blogs, communities, and discussion boards where at least a small section is reserved for talk about 2NE1 singer Park Bom and what appears to be an addiction to plastic surgery.
Comparing pictures of the dynamic YG Entertainment performer from 2009 when 2NE1 made their debut to Park Bom's appearances as of late, and you will notice a striking difference in all of her features.
Most recently the singer's ever-changing appearance has been the object of attention yet again after 2NE1 was interviewed on Arirang TV's Pops in Seoul program. With the camera close up on her face, it seems Park Bom's chin has a much pointier shape than even just a few months ago.
There also seems to be something amiss - and as many comments on the video clip point out, Bom's chin also appears to be skewed to the right.
"If she paid for that chin, she's been scammed," read one comment while another said, "
Back in April there was some speculation that Bom had been receiving Botox injections due to her puffy and stiff face - and rather than chastise her for having cosmetic procedures done, most fans and netizens seem genuinely concerned about her always-different appearance.
"Bom unnie, please stop fixing your face," pleaded one fan on a 2NE1 message board.
Others worry that more attention is being given to her face rather than her talent or that she is going to do long-lasting damage to her body and be unable to perform.
"Bom can already barely move her mouth - she sometimes slurs her words. Why isn't anyone stopping her?" expressed a netizen on a recent Star Todayarticle about the potential new chin.
However, there could be another explanation for all this.
Park Bom does not deny having had surgeries in the past - she does, however, deny that they were for cosmetic purposes. She has previously stated that she suffers from a lymph node disease and occasionally needs to have procedures done in relation to that. She also explained that that is why he face sometimes looks puffy and stiff.
Another comment left on the Star Todayarticle pleaded with other netizens to first do some research before jumping to conclusions and suggested looking into a medical condition known as Bell's Palsy (a condition that results in face paralysis) before insinuating that Bom is addicted to plastic surgery.
Whatever the reason, it does appear that the 2NE1 star's chin is cause for concern among her fandom - and one day we all hope to learn the truth behind Park Bom's ever-changing face.
On the most recent episode of QTV Shin Dong Yup and Ranking Women, cast members and cosmetic surgeons talked about the most ideal women according to cosmetic standards. MC Shin Dong Yup asked the ranking women if they have any particular part of their bodies that others suspect of plastic surgery.
Solbi was first to explain herself, So many people ask me if Ive had an orthognathic surgery. Honestly, yes, Ive had some work done on my eyes and hose, but never on my jaw. Won Ja Hyun also talked about how people often misleadingly think she had gotten her jaw fixed for cosmetic reasons, when all she did was using makeup to cover up her flaws.
Jung Ga Eun said, I have a smaller nose compared to other features on my face and yet, my nose is very prominent. So people always wonder if I had gotten a nose job. If you come here and touch my nose, youd be able to tell if its real or not immediately.
Cosmetic surgeons who appeared on this episode examined these ranking womens faces to see if they really are telling the truth. While these surgeons assuringly confirmed I could guarantee you that she did not get any cosmetic surgery for some of the women, they gave meaningful smiles and avoided making any comments on others.
Shin Dong Yup and Ranking Women is a variety program where the ranking women, a group of female celebrities, try to guess the ranking of certain things under a specific topic that a guest group chose for them. The show airs every Thursday at 9:50pm KST on QTV.
K-Pop’s pretty boys and sexy ladies put on their best stink faces in our poll last week when we asked our readers which idol star makes the best ugly face, and the results are in!
The polls have officially closed, and FT Island’s Lee Hong Gi took top honors(?) for the ugliest mug with 52.6 percent of votes. Fans apparently couldn’t get enough of that double chin.
2NE1’s Sandara Park trailed in second place with 15.5 percent of votes (which we guess is a good thing), while B.A.P’s Zelo followed close behind with 13.6 percent and SNSD’s Taeyeon with 10.2 percent of votes.
Meanwhile, JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun, Shinhwa’s Jun Jin and Jay Park rounded out the bottom three with 3.9 percent, 3.3 percent and 0.3 percent of votes, respectively.
Now on to our favorite voter comments!
It was an easy choice for Justine Dane Masim, who commented, “No doubt, Hongki is the ugliest :P I still love him :).”
For others like user Christine, the decision proved to be more of a dilemma, as she wrote, “I wanted to vote for Taeyeon, the thing is that she does not look ugly enough to vote for her so... hahaha hwaiting!”
Meanwhile, LuluKyu accepted it as one of life’s oxymorons, writing “My Baby ZELO ♥ He′s Soooooooooooooooo Handsome ♥ But He Also Can Be a Beautiful Ugly :D :D keke.”
Thanks for voting and be sure to check out our latest poll!
