Black Pink is on fire as they accomplished a rare feat for debuting artists in Japan!
According to Oricon, Black Pink has topped Japan’s most prestigious music chart following their highly-anticipated Japanese debut. Their mini album titled ‘BLACK PINK,’ which was released on August 30, topped Oricon’s ‘Weekly Album’ chart by selling 39,000 copies!
Black Pink is only the third foreign artist to top Oricon’s Weekly Album chart after making their debut. The other two to have accomplished this are 2NE1 and Russian music duo t.A.T.u.
Previously, Black Pink topped Oricon’s ‘Daily Album’ chart for two consecutive days and also topped the Tower Records chart, which is the largest music retail outlet in Japan.
There were big expectations for Black Pink’s debut in Japan and they have lived up to the hype. They participated in numerous photo shoots for Japan’s biggest and most popular fashion magazines and also held their huge debut showcase at the prestigious Nippon Budokan.
The girls also opened the second day at ‘a-nation 2017,’ Japan’s biggest summer music festival.
Congratulations Black Pink!
