YG Entertainment: All About Big Bang in 2012 but Now It's All About 2NE1

YG Entertainment: All About Big Bang in 2012 but Now It's All About 2NE1

Big Bang, 2NE1, yg entertainment

YG Entertainment: All About Big Bang in 2012 but Now It's All About 2NE1 YG: 2012 About Big Bang, 2013 About 2NE1For YG Entertainment, 2012 was certainly about promoting Big Bang, putting out back-to-back songs with combinations of G-Dragon as a solo and the team as a whole. This year, YG seems to be employing a similar strategy. This time, YG is going all in on 2NE1.

Similar to how Big Bang paved the way for G-Dragon last year, CL is leading 2NE1 back to the land of K-pop with the release of her solo debut album, soon to be followed by 2NE1's comeback with a new song in June. Only time will tell whether the similar tactic will work out for two years in a row or not, but it will probably be successful. Why? Simply because it is 2NE1 we are talking about.

With CL having prepared the stage with her solo debut of THE BADDEST FEMALE, 2NE1 is reported to have pulled up their comeback date from July to June.

According to sources, the choreographers for 2NE1 have already visited YG Entertainment and flown back, leading to speculations that the choreography has been finalized.

An associate at YG stated, "2NE1 enjoyed great success last year with their first world tour, but we could not help but feel that we could have done better in terms of producing new songs. We only released one new song last year. So we will be focusing on bringing something new to our fans this year."

The New York Times picks Big Bang & 2NE1 concerts for Best Concerts of 2012

The New York Times picks Big Bang & 2NE1 concerts for Best Concerts of 2012

The New York Times picks Big Bang2NE1 concerts for ‘Best Concerts of 2012′

2012 was a totally successful year for YG Entertainment. Their popularity has truly gone worldwide.

The four-member girl group 2NE1 kicked off their ‘New Evolution World Tour‘ back on July 28th in Seoul. The girls then brought their concerts to the United States (NewarkLos Angeles), Japan (Osaka, Nagoya, Yokohama, Saitama), Taiwan (Taipei), and finally Singapore.

Boy group Big Bang also successfully held their first global tour. Samsung sponsored the tour, endorsing their Galaxy phones as it was named the ‘Alive Galaxy Tour‘. They also collaborated with Live Nation. The tour began in Seoul back in March this year, and included 48 shows in 13 different countries. After Seoul, Big Bang focused on Asia, traveling to Japan (Nagoya, Yokohama, Osaka, Saitama, Fukuoka, Tokyo), China (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Hong Kong), Singapore, Thailand (Bangkok), Indonesia (Jakarta), Taiwan (Taipei), Philippines (Manila), and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur).

Big Bang also brought their concerts to Europe, North America, and South America with stops in England (London), the United States (Anaheim, Newark), and Peru (Lima). Big Bang is set to hold 2 more concerts in Osaka and then finally concluded their epic tour in Seoul from January 25th to January 27th.

The New York Times picked both of 2NE1 and Big Bangs concerts in Newark’s Prudential Center for their ‘Best Concerts of 2012‘, writing,

A concert is always more than just a rendering of songs. It’s a musical revamp, a real-time test, a spectacle, a pop-up community, perhaps a dance party or an incipient riot — and, even in the YouTube era, an ephemeral, site-specific experience. Here the pop and jazz critics of The New York Times recall some of their favorite live events of 2012, in order of importance.

2NE1 Aug. 17, and BIGBANG Nov. 8, both at Prudential Center, Newark. This was the year K-pop arrived — not in the form of “Gangnam Style,” which was everywhere and yet completely evanescent — but in these arena shows, which were full of thousands of young, paying fans eager to see the girls of 2NE1 and the boys of BigBang, groups with zero American hits between them, but rabid American followings all the same.

Congratulations to Big Bang and 2NE1!

The New York Times Honors Big Bang & 2NE1 With

The New York Times Honors Big Bang & 2NE1 With "Best Concert Of 2012"

Though they may have been partially eclipsed by the success of their labelmate PSY in 2012, groups Big Bang and 2NE1 still had a stellar year. Both idol groups embarked on global tours: 2NE1 on their "New Evolution World Tour" and Big Bang with their "Alive Galaxy Tour".

2NE1 kicked off their series in Seoul on July 28th, moving on to the US (New York, Los Angeles), Japan (Osaka, Nagoya, Yokohama, Saitama), Taiwan (Taipei), and Singapore.

Big Bang's first global tour was even bigger. Sponsored by the Korean conglomerate Samsung, Big Bang joined hands with Live Nation, starting off in Seoul last March. 25 shows were initially planned, but due to the group's popularity, a total of 48 shows were held in 13 different countries! The group traveled through Japan (Nagoya, Yokohama, Osaka, Saitama, Fukuoka, Tokyo), China (Shanghai, Gyangzhou, Beijing, Hong Kong), Singapore, Thailand (Bangkok), Indonesia (Jakarta), Taiwan (Taipei), Philippines (Manila), and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) in Asia alone! This doesn't even include the stops in Europe, North America, and South America: England (London), the US (Anaheim, Newark), and Peru (Lima).

There are still two more stops planned for the "Alive Galaxy Tour" in Osaka followed by their last performances in Seoul on January 25-27.

The New York Time honored both groups by listing both groups' concerts at the Newark's Prudential Center under their Best Concerts of 2012 list.

The New York Times took notice and selected both of their concerts in Newark’s Prudential Center for their ‘Best Concerts of 2012‘ list. The publication noted that though both groups have zero American hit songs, they still have massive American followings.
