In the film "A Man and A Woman," actors Gong Yoo and Jeon Do Yeon play two characters that fall in love. But theirs is a forbidden love. While their connection provides them with moments of incandescent happiness, they both have commitments that such love will endanger.
The story takes place in Finland. Gong plays an architect named Ki Hong. He lives in snow-covered Helsinki for work and his home life is not happy. Jeon plays Sang Min, a woman who comes to Finland so she can send her autistic son to a special camp. That"s where they meet and connect. They feel comfortable with each other. And when a heavy snowfall strands them in a cabin overnight, they sleep together. The next day they vow to go their separate ways without learning each other"s names. But that"s not the end of their affair or the repercussions it will have on both their families.
What attracted the actors to this film?
Gong Yoo has not appeared in a drama since the 2012 drama "Big" but he has appeared in a few films. The roles he has taken show that he"s not afraid of a challenge or a dramatic subject. For Jeon Do Yeon, it was a chance to work again with the director Lee Yoon Ki. His 2008 film "My Dear Enemy" was one of her favorite films to work on.
"The director is well known for his dry style in dealing with emotions. I wondered how that style would turn out in "A Man and A Woman" and that"s the reason why I chose "A Man and A Woman."
