Star-Studded Army Musical to Open in January

"The Promise", a musical being co-produced by the Ministry of Defense and the Korea Musical Theatre Association, is in the final stage of preparing for opening night on Jan. 9.The show features a number of stars who are currently serving their compulsory military duty, including actors Ji Hyeon-woo and Kim Moo-yeol, as well as singers such as Super Junior's Lee Teuk, Yoon Hak of boy group Supernova, and Lee Hyun of 8Eight. The production follows the story of seven soldiers whose bonds of friendship are strengthened on the deadly battlefields of the 1950-53 Korean War

The stars currently serving in the military have gathered to participate in a musical together. The musical, called The Promise, which is hosted by the Ministry of National Defense, is about the 6.25 war in Korea and how a group of soldiers keep a promise made with each other. The musical was created to commemorate the 60th anniversary since the 6.25 war in 1950.The musical stars Super Junior’s Leeteuk, 8eight’s Lee Hyun, Supernova’s Yoon Hak, actors Ji Hyun Woo, Jung Tae Woo, musical actor Kim Moo Yul, and many other famed individuals currently serving in the army

The official poster for new musical “The Promise” has been revealed on December 4th. The musical will be produced by the military, featuring some of the enlisting celebrities including Leeteuk, Ji Hyun Woo, and 8eight’s Lee Hyun. Produced by the Ministry of National Defense to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, “The Promise” tells a story about 7 soldiers who fought to survive during the Korean War.
