Kim Bum to star in an upcoming Chinese film

Recently, many Korean celebrities have been taking part in Chinese films. For example, Jang Nara recently starred in the Taiwanese film “Flying with You,” and Kangta is set to act in the Chinese movie “Secret Garden.”

Now, actor Kim Bum will also be joining the list of actors who have played a role in a Chinese film, as he has will be acting in the upcoming Chinese movie “The Prequel to the Legend of Detective Dee” (tentative title).

Directed by the famed Chinese director Hark Tsui, “The Prequel to the Legend of Detective Dee” will also feature many other popular Chinese actors including Mark Zhao, Angela Baby, William Feng, and Kenny Lin. Kim Bum will be the only non-Chinese actor participating in the film.

When asked how he felt about being asked to star in a Chinese film directed by Hark Tsui, Kim Bum stated, “I used to watch Hark Tsui’s martial arts films as a child, and he is a director that I truly respect. Therefore, when I was offered a role in his upcoming film, I knew I had to accept it because I don’t know if I’ll ever get another opportunity to work with him again. I am truly grateful for this opportunity, and I will do my best.”

Filming for “The Prequel to the Legend of Detective Dee” has already begun, and the film is slated to hit theaters next year. Kim Bum will begin filming his portion of the movie towards the end of August as he must finish his Korean activities first.
