On August 15th, SBS’s “To the Beautiful You” will debut, with the ending of “Ghost.”
“To the Beautiful You” is based on a manga series, about a handsome group of men at a male high school that went on between 1996 and 2004. The manga was published in Korea and was very popular in both countries. It was first made into dramas in Taiwan and Japan, and the Japanese Version was incredibly successful when it aired in 2007.
Because the Japanese version was so successful, people are anticipating the release of “To the Beautiful You.” So let’s look at what the differences are between the two countries’ versions.
- The Changes in Characters
There are no changes in the basic lineup. However, some friend-type characters that were some hidden gems in the Japanese version have been omitted in the Korean one and other characters have been added. Instead of a group of girls who like the male lead, the Korean version has elected to have just one girl, Seol Hanna , be the fan of Tae Jun.
For the role of the teacher, the Japanese version has only one nursing teacher but in the Korean version, there are two others. In the Japanese version, a principal of Osaka School exists and an offer went out to Ko So Young but because she did not show interest, the role was scrapped. Instead, a vice principal will be added to take the place of the principal and add more variety to the cast.
- Manga-like scenes and episodes that stand alone. How about in Korea?
Because the episodes are so diverse since it’s based on an 8 year manga series, the Japanese version was able to deal with different storylines every episode. From the competition between the three dormitories to the school festival and other fun elements existed. It was enhanced by fantasy elements and emotional aspects within such independent episodes that were able to stand on themselves.
Fans are already talking about how the Korean version will treat this and if different, how they will carry out the different storylines of the young students, their individual lives and romances.
In 2007, most of the Japanese casts were new faces but because of the immense popularity of the drama, most actors were able to have successful careers. We wait to see if this will be the case for “To the Beautiful You” and whether the actors from this drama will be able to prove their abilities and go on to have more success in their acting and screen careers.japanese version of To the Beautiiful You Cast, taiwanese version of to the beautiful you, title of japanese version of to the beautiful you Tags : debut, Drama, Fans, friend, Japan, Ko So Young, Korean, Oman, Taiwan to the beautiful you beast beautiful night to the beautiful you wallpaper mysoju to the beautiful you choi minho to the beautiful you to the beautiful you cast epdrama to the beautiful you the 23rd annual independent critics list of the 100 most beautiful faces to the beautiful you korean drama minho to the beautiful you
