Next year, there will be a whole new way to eat bibimbap, a mix of rice and vegetables that is gaining popularity worldwide as Korea's signature dish. In its traditional form, bibimbap is served in a bowl and consists of rice, vegetables, sliced meat, an egg and chilli pepper paste. But in a modern twist, the dish will take on new forms that will be easier to take on the go.The city of Jeonju in North Jeolla Province, which is famous for its version of bibimbap, unveiled 15 kinds of takeout bibimbap on Tuesday. The bibimbap kebab turns the dish on its head with a skewer of rice, vegetables and boiled egg.
Another version borrows the concept of the fish-shaped bungeoppang, but replaces the usual red bean filling with a pocket of bibimbap. This baguette also has bibimbap inside.
