Online music website, monkey3, reveals first half of the year charting with Taetiseo's "Twinkle" in 1st place

Girls’ Generation’s sub-unit, Taetiseo, was crowned Queen for the first half of the year.

Online music site, monkey3, compiled their data from January 1st to June 20th of both streaming and downloaded musics and has announced the artists that ranked 1st overall. The results were revealed to be Taetiseo, Big Bang, T-ara, and SISTAR as the top rankers, as well as Busker Busker.

Taetiseo began their unit activities with the track, “Twinkle,” which took the No.1 spot on monkey3 for four weeks in a row, recording top numbers of stream. The trio, which consists of Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun, unleashed their powerful vocals for the title track, revealing their stylish fashion and model walk on the stage.

With only a small difference separating them from 1st place, T-ara came in 2nd place with their track, “Lovey Dovey.” Last year, T-ara revived the retro era with “Roly Poly” and once again, has released yet another hit sensation with “Lovey Dovey.”

For the first half of the year, Big Bang made an explosive comeback with their 5th mini-album, “Alive,” an all title-tracks album. “Fantastic Baby” and “Blue” are still 3rd and 8th respectively in the popularity poll even after months have passed, showing the group’s overwhelming popularity.

SISTAR proved themselves to be one of the popular girl group this year after releasing their sexy title track, “Alone.” They are standing strong in 4th place for the first half of the year.

Despite the heavy idol competition this year, Busker Buskser is standing strong with their track, “Cherry Blossom Ending,” in 5th place. Other tracks that ranked includes “First Love” and “Yeosu Night Sea” from their 1st studio album, “Busker Busker 1st Album.” This achievement has allowed them to emerge as one of the leading artists to watch out for.

Among some of the top ranking drama OSTs included Lyn‘s “Back In Time” (6th place) for the Kim Soohyun and Han Gain drama “The Moon That Embraces the Sun.”

Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon ranked 10th with her OST track, “Missing You Like Crazy,” for Lee Seunggi’s drama “King 2Hearts.”

One of the rising power, rookie vocalist Ailee takes 7th place with her debut single, “Heaven,” while Cube Entertainment’s sub-unit consisting of BEAST’s Hyunsung and 4minute’s Hyuna ranked 9th with their title track, “Troublemaker.”

Other artists to rank high for the first half of the year included miss A‘s “Touch,” Huh Gak‘s “The Person Who Once Loved Me,” IU‘s “You&I,” 2AM‘s “I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me,” Busker Busker‘s “First Love,” Davichi‘s “Will Think Of You” and 10cm‘s “Sorrow” respectively.

Tracks released specially from variety shows, such as “I Am A Singer” and “Infinite Challenge,” like Jung Junha’s “Story of a Tall Bachelor” were ranked in the Top 50 for the first half of the year.

Overall, Big Bang and Busker Busker were the two artists that had 3 tracks each rank in the Top 50: Big Bang’s “Fantastic Baby,” “Blue” and “Bad Boy” and Busker Busker’s “Cherry Blossom Ending,” “First Love” and “Yeosu Night Sea.”

Big Bang‘s “Blue” also achieved a feat of having stayed in the Top 10 for a whooping 21 weeks! This feat was followed by Busker Busker‘s “Cherry Blossom Ending,” T-ara‘s “Lovey Dovey,” Lyn‘s “Back In Time” and IU‘s “YOU&I” respectively.
