2AM’s Seulong, actress Han Hyejin, and actor Jin Goo will be starring in a political film based on a webtoon by Kang Full. The film, titled “26 Years,” is scheduled to premiere on July 3rd.

In the film adaptation, the story begins in the 1980s when thousands of people, mostly college students, are injured and killed by the South Korean government due to pro-democracy movement in Gwangju. Seulong will play a young policeman whose life is significantly impacted by the event, and Jin Goo will play a gangster from an organized criminal group whose father is killed in the massacre. Han Hyejin will be portraying a professional shooter from the national shooting team.

As the film develops, the three characters work together and plot a secret project to punish the person behind the massacre. The massacre brought to light the country’s oppression, and Kang Full’s web comic emphasizes the overcoming of societal and inter-personal relationships.

The film adaptation was initially conceived in 2008 under the title “29 Years,” with Kim Ahjoong and Ryoo Seungbeom as the leads. However, the film lost funding due to investors’ external issues, putting a stop to its production.
