News via soompi.com

[Exclusive] New York Asian Film Festival Tickets Giveaway! The New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) runs from June 29th to July 15th this year, and we’ve teamed up with them to giveaway two pairs of tickets to our lovely Soompiers!

The film is on its 11th year, and features an extremely diverse set of films that are guaranteed to keep everyone thoroughly entertained.

Korean films are very well represented at the festival, with a diverse selection starting with classics such as “Oldboy” to more recent films including this year’s blockbuster, “All About My Wife”, featuring Im Soo Jung.  There are lesser known gems you may otherwise not be exposed to, such as “Failan”, featuring Choi Min Sik and Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung, and “The King of Pigs”, the first Korean animated film to show at Cannes.

We’ve picked two movies we think our Soompi audience will enjoy, and winners will be able to decide which movie they’d like to get tickets for.

1 - The first movie we recommend is this year’s summer blockbuster, “All About My Wife,” a remake of the Argentinian movie, “A Boyfriend for My Wife”.  This romantic comedy tells the story of a husband who finds it easier to hire a Casanova to woo his wife away, than to ask her for a divorce.    With a talented cast including Im Soo Jung from classic K-drama, “I’m Sorry, I Love You,” and Lee Sun Kyun from “The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince” and “Pasta,” the movie is bound to be a delightful treat.

2 - The second movie we recommend also happens to be a remake; “Couples” is a remake of Japanese film, “A Stranger of Mine”.  It’s a light hearted romantic comedy, with a quirky charm in the way it weaves together the individual stories into a cohesive plot.  Starring in the film are Lee Si Young, from the hit drama, “Boys Over Flowers,” and Kim Ju Hyuk, well known from “Lovers in Prague”.

The full list of Korean movies shown at the festival, by year produced, is:

All About My Wife, 2012 Doomsday Book, 2012 (festival centerpiece presentation) The King of Pigs, 2012 Nameless Gangster, 2012 Bloody Fight in Iron-Rock Valley, 2011 Couples, 2011 Red Vacance, Black Wedding, 2011 War of the Arrows, 2011 Secret Love, 2010 Crying Fist, 2005 Oldboy, 2003 Failan, 2001 You can find more information on individual movies at the NYAFF website.

But tragic back reports shouldnt condone the occasionallydestructivemovements of these characters. Is it the actor that the fans love? Do fans have hassle separating the nature from the actor? Or is it amusing to root for the bad boy where real folkscan't exist harmed?

Lorenza: I have a comfortable spot for the anti-hero archetype: the cynic or misfit who unearths themselves able where they've got to save the day. Their trips are more interesting. The lives they reside are nearlyat all times more interesting, more dramatic than commonplace life, even supposing they live in poverty. Its why James Dean was once then popular back in the day; he wasnt perfect, he pulled off the broody vibes, and his tortured soul spoke to the audience. They also satisfy the teenage riotfablemany of us still have.
