Artist Sa Suk-won smiles in front of one of his latest paintings, “Owl of Guryong Falls of Mount Odae”(2012). The large-size acrylic, which depicts the head of an owl with the images of the falls in its big eyes along with wild flowers surrounding its face, is part of Sa’s solo show “Secret Paradise”, which starts tomorrow. The exhibition runs until June 3 at Gana Art Center in Pyeongchang-dong, northern Seoul, and presents about 40 paintings that draw inspiration from more than 100 waterfalls among Korea’s most famous mountains. The works are of strong and vivid colors with heavy texture, Sa’s signature style. “The falls are just like beauties hidden in the deep hearts of mountains, and you will never see their charms until you visit them in person”, the artist said in a note.
