A 17-member idol group is scheduled to make their debut before the end of the year. After School and Son Dambi’s agency, Pledis Entertainment, told Newsen on April 26th, “We are preparing to debut a 17-member boy group.”

However, a 17-member boy group is not the most that South Korea has ever seen debut. Super Junior, at most, had a total of 13 members, while there was another group, A-Peace, that made their debut last year with 21 members.

According to an official at Pledis Entertainment, the 17-member group will not only lead activities in South Korea, but is prepared to become leaders of the Hallyu Wave, and will also focus on activities across Asia right at the start of their debut.

Meanwhile, Pledis Entertainment is set to schedule a new 5-member girl group, Hello Venus, in May. The agency has already debuted their new male group, NU’EST.
