Special Episodes of "The Moon that Embraces the Sun" Dip in Ratings

MBC drama “The Moon that Embraces the Sun” suffered a decrease in TV ratings with the special episodes. According to reports in local news agencies, the episode that aired on March 8 recorded only 19.2% audience share, which was not even half of its usual audience share and its lowest ever since its premiere.

Special episodes focusing on the childhood characters were aired instead of new episodes when its director Kim Do Hoon joined the ranks of the ongoing strike at MBC. PD Kim had reportedly went back on March 8 to shoot the remainder of the drama, which is set to wrap up on March 15.

As a result of the delay in the production of “The Moon that Embraces the Sun,” the drama’s competitors on rival networks, KBS’ drama special and SBS’ “Take Care of Us, Captain” gained slightly on audience share, posting 4.2% and 8.5%, respectively on March 8.
