Drama Review 'W' Episode 1

Cheol (played byLee Jong-suk) is an Olympic point marksman who is framed for a terrible crime, wallowing away in depressionsooner thanafter allturning intomade up our minds to discoverthe actual perpetrator. Cheol may be a fictional persona in a webtoon by potential of Seong-moo (played byKim Ee-seong), who also is the father of Yeon-joo (played byHan Hyo-joo), an ineptphysician who juggles clinicaleveryday jobs amongst an active social role every bit the daughter of a noted webtoon artist. Subjects have a turn for the unusual when Yeon-joo is left by myself with a manuscript that looks to clumsily kill Cheol off.

On one end"W"is a perilous straight-faced high-concept wrongly accused guy storyline. There isn't anygenuine sense of self-parody in the scenes that take position in Cheol's world. It ispreciselythe similarroughly plot that may feature in either a daylight hours revenge melodrama or a high-concept adult comedian book. Incidentally, till watching"W"I had now notspotted how much the ones two genres shared in common, taking into consideration how they are aimed at two totallyother audiences.

That form of irony is the maximum important humor that pervades"W". Yeon-joo is totally bewildered by the turn of occasions and just type of stands within sight with a dumb incredulous glance on her face. When Yeon-joo is forced to solve a medical emergency the usage of a trope this iscommonplace in fiction yet glaringly ridiculous to a real-life doctor, she resists excepteventuallysimplest reluctantly following the genre convention.

AdvertisementCheol's reaction to having an individual from the"Real"world input his own proves to be similarly telling- or not it'snearlyspiritual in tone, and for just right reason. From Cheol's perspective, Seong-moo is God. From our standpoint Seong-moo is also the individualanswerable for Cheol's horrible position in existence because he isthe user who murdered Cheol's family...by writing a tale about it. And if the appearance on Seong-moo's face when drawing the decisive panel is any indication, Seong-moo is set out of patience with Cheol too.

If not anything else, the plot is for sure madcap and innovative. As of yet I will not tell whether the tale in"W"is genius or simply creativity disguised as genius. Yet if nothing else, it certainly looks cool. Take a glance at the midnight cinematography, the pitter-patter of tough rain, or the seamless transitions between are living action scene and webtoon comic panels. DirectorJeong Dae-yoonhas indeed made the primary episode look fashionable enough-let's see if he can stay IT up.
