2NE1 donates 20,000,000KRW to aid hearing impaired children
Group 2NE1 (Sandara Park, Park Bom, CL, Gong Minji) took part in the ‘Severance Hospital Donation Event’ to help the hearing impaired children.
2NE1 has delivered 20,000,000KRW (about $17600 USD at press time) to Yonsei University Severance hospital for donation. The group’s agency YG Entertainment took part in the ‘WITH’ campaign since 2009, which is a common good project that donates part of YG’s profits to worthwhile causes.
YG made an agreement with Severance hospital in 2011 and this event was the first sponsor event that culminated from the agreement, which 2NE1 took part in.
2NE1 visited the hearing impaired children at the hospital, but this wasn’t just a showy promotional event for the group. They took time to visit all the children who were hospitalized, they hand delivered gifts to them, and they even held a signing event on the spot.
CL spoke about the event, “We just want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to help out. We want to continue to help in the future as well”.
Maknae Gong Minji who also celebrated her birthday on this special day stated, “I’m so happy that I could celebrate my birthday with all of you”.
A YG Entertainment representative stated, “To receive Cochlear Implants the children need to wear hearing aids for 3 months prior to the surgery to observe the prospect. However, the low income families have trouble affording the hearing aids and they often miss the critical window to have the procedure done. Recognizing this problem, 2NE1 has decided to donate 20,000,000KRW to provide the much needed hearing aids to the families in need”.
